“Stayed there for 4 nights 21st June 2012”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2012

We stayed at the Vilamor in Alvor for 4 nights in June 2012 we are a couple in our late 20's and wanted a short break in the sun. The vilamor is really lovely place to stay we do not have a bad word to say about it. It is a 15 minute walk into the town of alvor where we have now been twice. We did walk back on an evening it is a slight hill but we didn't find it a problem and taxis are available in alvor town. We had a 1 bedroom apartment with terrace on the ground floor it has everything you need, kettle, toaster, fridge and washing machine. It does have a tv if you want one but we couldnt find any english channels but personally we did not mind that. The only down side was that it was 2 single beds and that wasn't massivly comfortable but we were only there 4 nights and for the bargain price I would easily overlook that matter even if we went again for 2 weeks the apartment had lots of extra pillows and blankets that you can put down for a bit of extra comfort. It was so lovely sitting on our terrace overlooking the pool. The apartments are very pretty and the grounds are kept very clean and the flowers and grass are kept lovely. The apartments are very safe the gates are locked and you get a key to let yourself in late at night. The complex also has a bar/restaurant. The lady that runs the apartments is lovely so friendly and happy to help with anything. The complex is nice and small which we like it was so peacfull it suited us. They also have a pc with internet in reception if you happen to need one. If you have not been to Alvor we would highly recommend the restaurant Salsa Bistro you will need to book though they are very popular it is a lovely little portugese restaurant. We would definatly stay at these apartments again but if we did go on our own if we were to take our 2 year old daughter I would ask for an apartment that isn't ground floor as the wall around the terrace is very low and children could easily wonder of down the stairs to the pool however if you do get a terrace the terrace is very large. We had the most amazing 5 days Alvor is amazing for lovely portugese tradition we love it there.

Staff were very polite and friendly and helped us with bookings for theme park and also gave us discount prices.
We had a second floor apartment which was extremely spacious and were able to leave windows open at night to feel the refreshing breeze.. The restaurant was very reasonable and food was very good.
Swimming pool and gardens are well maintained. Great for kids. Will definitely be back again

Just home today from a week stay and have to say it is a nice small complex, staff couldnt be more helpful and went out of their way for us. Bit dated but nothing major. The only few problems i would have were the steps to the the appartments were not suitable for buggies and suitcases it was a night mare at times trying to get up and down, also most nights the bar was really busy and one paticular set of teenagers and parents did nothing but roar and scream until well after 4 o clock on 3 or 4 nights while we were there.I felt sorry for couples who had younger children as they must have got no sleep.
Overall a lovely stay, food in restaurant nice, pool really nice with lots of sunloungers but no shade only under a big tree! good value for money except for the noise.

My parents have been coming here twice a year each year for the past decade, but I had never joined them. My brother & sister had been on a few holidays with them to Villamor, and persuaded me to give it a go. As my parents were regulars (quite a few Irish families there seem to be) Joe (the owner) looks after them, well (as he does all his guests). While the accommodation itself is not the most modern (lacks A/c & ceiling fans), everything else about the complex is fine unless you are demanding 5 star luxury. Very relaxed vibe, no noise after midnight, pool clean & all the staff very friendly, fluent English & welcoming. Really enjoyed my stay here, & Would definitely be back.

We went to the Vilamor apartments last July for one week. I had my partner and an 8 year old and a 15 year old with me... I do agree that the apartments need to be updated but I am going back for 10 nights this July and I am really looking forward. the staff are Really nice the Apartments are safe; a nice walk to Alvor offers more entertainment. We booked last year through Budget Travel; but of course they went and we didnt no what or how to book. Joe the Manager kindly gave us his card last year, so we rang him, and he told us that Barters travel agents were the people to call; ROLL ON JULY :)

We went to the Vilamor Apartments for 2 weeks. We really enjoyed it. I was just wondering now how I can book it again because every travel agent on the internet i go to doesnt seem to have it. Was wondering if I could get feedback on how other people booked as we would really like to go back again this year. Hi to Joe and all the staff! =] x

  • Liked — The staff were a pleasure to be around and its location was very central
  • Disliked — The room was a bit smelly on the first day but a few air fresheners did the job from the supermarket down the road from it
