“Enjoy Florence and Tuscany without the crowds”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2012

Traveling solo I appreciated the warmth and caring of this bed and breakfast. An easy 10 minute train ride from this "suburb" into the frenetic pace of Florence was close enough for me. I could see the city from the upstairs terrace and liked being out of the crowds of tourists for part of my day! The offer of a drive to the train was graciously accepted but isn't a necessity-it's a calm 10 minute walk to the station. The B&B is quiet, beautifully furnished and has a lovely garden for a delicious breakfast. The 3 generations of this family are charming, speak multiple languages and made we feel very welcomed. Only caution...don't make my mistake and stop on the same street at the ValdiRose B&B..keep driving til you see a driveway marked ValdiRose Charming Rooms. (My hosts actually walked down the road to get me when i called them)

After reading almost 100 terrific reviews my wife and I had high expectations. Expectations met and exceeded! I started wondering what makes this home and family so special. The Valdirose is a dream three generations in the making. The story of what the property has meant to the family is heartwarming. This love comes through in how each guest is treated and how the property is cared for. My wife and I celebrated our 20th Anniversary at the Valdirose and we can't wait to return to this very special place.
In staying at the Valdirose you will make one of your best travel decisions. There are train stations close by so you can get to Florence and other cities very easilly. All of Tuscany is an easy drive from Lastra and there are great Trattoria's within minutes. This is real Italy without the mobs of tourists.
Great thanks to Giovanni, Graziella, Paulo, Irene and Beatrice. Tuscany was outstanding but what will bring us back for sure is to visit with our new friends at the Valdirose.

We stayed here last month and on our return home our first priority is to write this review - our very first review we have ever written on trip advisor. We were three adults travelling with a four year old girl. We used our GPS to find the B&B without any trouble. Loved the initial impression on the outside and this beautiful B&B did not let us down once we entered. We were met by Giovanni who made us very welcome and gave us coffee and cake on the upstairs terrace. We stayed for three nights and were sad to leave. Meet Irene, Paolo and their daughter Beatrice. My daughter had a wonderful time playing with Bea. Food well what can we say - breakfast was wonderful and one night we had tea which was devine. If we ever head back to Italy it would be a must to stay at Valdirose.

We could not have chosen a lovelier place for our 3 days in Toscana. Valdirose is beyond words with the most gracious and wonderful hosts. When we arrived early, our room was not yet ready but we were invited to the terrace on the 2. floor for wine and bruschetta, served by Giovanni with a big, welcoming smile. When we told them that my husband had been "relieved of" his wallet as we got on the train in Pisa later on, they said we could pay our remaining bill once back home, and even offered to lend us money should we need some! These are the loveliest of hosts and their B&B is just as described by everyone else, home away from home. Grazie mille, Irene, Paulo, Giovanni, Graziella and beautiful little Bea who helped out at breakfast one morning.

We stayed here for the first time in April 2011, and could not have had a lovelier experience! The owners, Irene and her husband, and her father Giovanni, were the best hosts one could ever have. This is the true definition of a Bed and Breakfast! We were made to feel absolutely at home. The B&B building is beautifully and artfully decorated. We stayed in the Reve room, and though it was smaller than I expected, it was still great.

I highly recommend staying here if you are planning on visiting Florence. It is approximately a 20 minute drive from the city, and a short train ride. Irene's father Giovanni was kind enough to drive us to the train station on one occasion.

We miss you!! Abbraccio, e a presto. -- Moumita and Nabeel

This was our second visit to Valdirose and our friends joined us this time. Paolo, Giovanni,Irene and Graziella are warm and happy hosts who go out of their way to make guests feel right at home. The breakfasts are ready and waiting, the rooms are immaculate and well appointed. The location is perfect for enjoying Florence (only 10 minutes by train) and all the other wonderful large and small communities that we so love in Italy. We can only say "Bravo" to this wonderful family and we hope to see you soon.
