“Good experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2012

Went there upon recommendation of our hosts three days ago. Very cosy location in the steep and narrow streets of Ostuni's very cute/nice old town (so be careful with high heels and very young children) - the outside tables are mostly under one/two huge trees and located on different levels to be reached only through very steep stairs. Service was attentive, the female host asks personally several times if everything is ok. Children are welcome, even running around a little and/or making some fun (like ours). Food and wine were of good quality (we had pasta as primi and meat as secondi). Bill in the end for two adults and one child amounted to 90 EUR. All in all a very good experience.

“Lunch at La Taverna della Gelosia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2012

Lunch at this restaurant in early July 2012 was a delight. The place was recommended to us by a charming antiques dealer in the town who kindly phoned ahead to book a table for us. The setting is incredible, shaded from the heat of the afternoon sun. The antipasti were abundant, varied and unusual (no simple bowl of olives and plate of peperonata here), the pasta delicious and the house wine very agreeable. The owner, Signora Caterina, is gracious and enchanting.

“Very pretty, very personal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2012

La Taverna della Gelosia is almost too pretty. Set into the steep terraced side of the historical centre (steep steps!) it has been cleverly designed to accommodate dining areas surrounded by flowers and shaded from the sun. We dined inside where the decor is delightfully idiocyncratic with the patrone's collection of traditional assembledges decorating the walls.
Excellent and carefully produced interpretations of traditional recipes and a good house wine made for a memorable meal. We thought it was one of the best, slightly up-market restaurants in the Old Town. Certainly better value than Il Sommito.

“Memorable meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2012

We were here on May 14, 2012, for a dinner organized by a bicycle tour group. It was a festive occasion, not a menu that we would have ordered on our own. The antipasti alone would have been an outstanding meal, highly varied and interesting. The owner introduced each dish as it arrived. The service was gracious, with each item delivered fresh from the kitchen at timely intervals. Our dinner was accompanied by a lively singer who specialized in songs from Puglia. O.K., the guitar was probably not authentic, but the decor, food, and music combined to create a dinner worth remembering.

“Place with atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2012

We've been to this restaurant twice before last October and travelled up from our vacation in Lecce just to have lunch here. The owner is an artist (painter) and doesn't cook any more. Her daughter who has a restaurant of her own cooks also for her mother's kingdom. We're vegetarians so a bit difficult to please but the antipasti (big plate with a variety of inventive dishes) are a sheer delight. The house wine is very decent and dessert was yummy. It is a bit pricy but the setting of the place deep within old Ostuni, flowers everywhere, attentive staff and the owner's charm and interest in art make this each time a worthwhile experience.
