We stayed here for 2 nights during our honeymoon trip across Sicily and I can honestly say that, apart from one very small complaint, this was the most decadent hotel experiences I've ever had. That said, the two days did cost us almost £1000 so for that price it should have been.
From the minute we arrived we were given VIP treatment. Collection from the port, personalised , greeting from customer relations manager Nancy waiting for us at the hotel shuttle stop, all kinds of information and offers of help to make our few days seamless.
We were upgraded on arrival to a stunning sea terrace room. The room, terrace, view were all amazing.
That evening we ate in the fancier of the three eateries and had the tasting menu accompanied by the tasting wine. This cost about £240 for us both and we both agreed this was one of the best gastronomical experiences w've had to date (and we are foodies!)
Before this we'd taking cocktails on the sun terrace at sunset. We were given three huge plates of appetisers, all delicious and complimentary with your drink, which did make consuming a large dinner rather difficult.
The staff couldn't have been nicer. Everyone rallied around constantly to give you the best service possible, something we had had limited experience of in Sicily at that point.
Breakfast is a delicious and extensive buffet offering all Kinds of typical Sicilian food plus other Mediterranean options. There was even around 10 different kinds of milk!
My one complaint was the dinner we took the 2nd night in the standard hotel restaurant (not the open air poolside bar). This was extortionate for the quality and choice of food. There were about 4 different options for each course but, on the starter option particularly, two of the options were from breakfast (caponata and raw fish) and another one was almost the same as one of the appetisers that came with the cocktails. My husband is a big eater and is always hungry, but both our pasta courses tasted so yuk that he couldn't eat either. I wasn't able to eat any of mine. Our bill that night was around £100.
We wouldn't usually be so extravagant to spend this kind of money on a two day trip, but after a poor experience elsewhere in Sicily we booked this up last minute and decided to live it up for 2 days of honeymoon time. We were not disappointed. Our stay was wonderful and I really didn't want to leave. The only dampener was paying £100 for an abysmal meal, but don't let that put you off coming here - it's a wonderful place. Staying more than 3-4 days tho, you may find yourself a little bored.
Special thank you to Nancy who was very kind and helpful to us.
