“Almost perfect.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2012

Pros: A two minute walk from the port (though I think this depends on whether you booked a room vs. an apartment). We had a large studio. Well equipped kitchen with lots of counter space to cook on. Even had an oven. Small balcony. Super nice host. Cleaned daily. Very quiet where we were. AC worked good.

Cons: No wifi. Inconsistent hot water.

I've stayed at Mike house, the one outside Parikia. I reserved on time this wonderful apartment after I've read the nice feedback of Giacomo F. and after I've seen the pictures he posted on trip advisor (I attached a similar picture). The sunset it's just amazing... as the owner and his family! My girlfriend & I met his wife (who cleans the house daily) his son and his cute nephew! We suddenly felt as part of the family.
When I met a sea surchin and some spines got into my foot he helped me out giving a look to the foot and telling me to put an huge amount of "greek" oil on my foot!
Only bad thing was the noise we heard some nights because of the pump and the water pressure...but he suddenly called the plumper and then was all set! Thank you Mike...and see you again!

I chose Mike's rooms because it is in the rough guide. You go to the Hertz car rental office and they ring 'Mike'. We had a room with a small balcony overlooking the harbour. It was immaculately clean and had everything you need, for instance hob, fridge and sink and all the utensils. Mike and his son are full of local information and very helpful. REally loved sitting on the balcony at night having a sundowner and in the morning for breakfast. Everything is close at hand, beach, supermarket, bakery and the old town. Had a great time and only 30 euros a night!

Room Tip: We had the triple room overlooking the harbour which is slightly bigger than the double one.

My friend and I had not planned to stay on Paros but we're sure glad we did. Our original plan was to take the ferry from Santorini to Mykonos but due to the schedule we had to overnight on Paros. we ended up staying for a couple of days because of the great time we were having at Mike's. It's clean and Mike is very welcoming. The location was perfect.

Mike is a perfect host, I have stayed twice and on each occasion the rooms were very clean and tidy, the accomodation is exactly what you want if you want to look at Paros and choose daily between the beaches ( 5 min walk) and exploring the Island. Mike is happy to see you if you stay 1 night or more. No money upfront, however expect Mike to keep your passport till you leave. There are always travel leaflets and books about for you to read if you want to know where to go or what to see. Please take the time to see Antiparos a small island just 25min ferry journey. I have stayed there twice, get on the boat and when you get off there will be people offering accomodation, I stayed at a pension overlooking the harbour a 1 min walk to the 1 main street in Antiparos, if you want peace quiet, quality food, no drunken parties and a place to relax then look no further than Antiparos. Mikes rooms is a brilliant stopping point to start of your treck around the Cyclades, if you pop over to Naxos then I recommend Birikos Apts, pool, sun, sand 2 mins and a lovely family pension, very well priced. Don't forget to barter with them all.

Room Tip: Ground floor room with kitchen and bathroon

Intended to stay here 1 night and ended up staying 6. Great location right near the centre of Parikia and not 2 minutes fro the ferry drop off. Great value deal, very simple, but very clean rooms with full access to a kitchen with all amenities. But the real star is Mike himself: charming, welcoming and a great source of information and stories about Paros and the islands.

We arrived in Parikia late at night by ferry from Piraeus, with Michaelis (aka Mike) patiently waiting to pick us up. He recommended a restaurant for our first night, other local amenities (bakery, supermarket, car hire) and main sights of Paros. It has to be said that Mike is one of a kind, a lovely and genuine Parian, who takes pride in his island and his business, which he receives lots of letters and postcards for - some of those can be found all over the premises. :)
We stayed in one of Mike's studios for 4 nights - it contained everything you need in a basic holiday home (i.e. fridge, cooker, balcony) and was simple but lovely decorated with all necessities, including a private bathroom. Also our room was cleaned daily.
Supermarket and bakery are located within easy reach, same applies to the harbour with restaurants cafes and bars, beach etc.
We paid €30 per night which is excellent value for its central location. This is its only downside as Parikia is very busy, especially the harbour and we would recommend you to invest in some earplugs for the noisy ferries. ;)
