The Hotel Storck is in the middle of Bad Laer, one of several small spa towns in the area. It is a small three-star accommodation, with an attractive 18th century main building and a new(er) wing attached. The rooms are large, with en-suite bathroom and a good shower. Old-fashioned, cheap and well-maintained.
At 4 Euro the breakfast buffet is exceptional value and puts many four-star chain hotels to shame. Much to choose from and some of it out of the ordinary. The homely restaurant serves solid German cooking. As the hotel is right in the centre, other restaurants and shops are in walking distance, as is an attractive duck pond.
Given that it's a spa town, most facilities in the town are well accessible for the elderly. The hotel has an elevator and a very small swimming-pool with sauna.
On the whole, this is a friendly little hotel that offers good value at low prices.
Practical note: the electrical socket in the bathroom is at the bottom of one of the lamps. Took me ages to find.
