This is the only hotel in a village of 1200 people, and has a rich - and old - history. Remodeled inside. I and 2 co-workers stayed in a 3rd floor room with a great view of the north side of town. The downstairs restaurant/bar is popular locally. The owner (a carpenter by trade - he built the bar and renovated the hotel) is also a hunter and cooks up wonderful local selections - fantastiche essen. His wife tends bar and supervises guests. Both were very friendly and willing to tak (she speaks fairly good English; he not so much). Good free breakfast with fresh breads, meats/cheeses, fresh brown eggs, and so on. Rooms and bathrooms are large and very clean, as was the whole place. The rates are extremely good, compared to hotels in nearby Korbach, for example. Oh, and did I mention the good food? The owner is a great chef, and everything we've picked from the menu - 8 dishes so far, and another 7 days to go - has been outstanding. Really. I highly recommend this hotel!
The only downside was no A/C in the rooms; though the windows opened wide, our room was over the street, so quite noisy at night when it was too hot to close them.
