This was a find on the internet – the only affordable place near Munich during Octoberfest! The owner/host was incredible friendly and attentive during breakfast and had a very good spread of food. We also ate dinner there and it was delicious. (There is perhaps nothing else in walking distance and so he could have a relatively “captive” audience and skimp on quality – but there was no skimping on quality.) Our room was wonderfully quiet as far as outside noise. The road the hotel is on seems to carry commuters to Munich morning and evening but quiets down otherwise. However, even during the busy times we couldn’t hear the traffic from our room. Our room and perhaps all rooms are in a building behind the building holding the reception and restaurant. The latter building helps shield and distance the rooms from the road. Our room and small balcony overlooked grassy fields with cows and goats; we enjoyed hearing the cowbells lightly in the morning and evening. (We could hear hallway noise if other occupants were very noisy.) The hotel is convenient to Munich for being outside of the city (it is very close off the autobahn between Munich and Salzburg).

We stayed here for one night while traveling from Hohenschwangau to Salzburg. The hotel is nice--the rooms are spacious and clean. The highlight of our stay was definitely the small tavern run by the owners! The food was so good and the staff was very friendly. Breakfast the next morning was every bit as good as dinner.

Note: we found that in eastern Europe, breakfast is very different from the US. They don't pig out and eat all kinds of fatty pancakes and waffles and crap. they eat a light breakfast of fruit, cereal, bread, cold cut meats, and juice. Breakfast was the same at every single hotel we stayed in, and we were in eastern Europe for 17 days. Don't listen to anyone who says "breakfast was horrible at this hotel" because it isn't--it's just different from what we're used to.
