“Chateau in the Vineyards”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

The exterior of this magnificent property is very impressive when you drive through the gates! Most impressive. We were very warmly received and taken to our rooms. The hotel itself is old and the common areas have such warmth and character...the rooms are updated and are very "modern". Our room was very comfortable and we had a huge outdoor balcony that had table and chairs, umbrella and lots of room to enjoy the view of Mersault and the beautiful vineyards surrounding the hotel. We were there 4 nights and used the hotel as a base to visit the vineyards and our wine producing friends in Chassagne Montrachet, Puligny Montrachet as well as time in Beaune!

We pulled up to this chateau and were impressed with the grounds and surrounding vineyards. Upon entering, we were greeted warmly and personally escorted to our room. It was a pleasant surprise to see a beautifully updated room inside, while maintaining the historic character of the common rooms. I loved the large, tiled, walk in shower. The dining room is spectacular. The tables had a goldfish bowl on each table. Can't say I've ever seen that before. Service was excellent, anticipating our every need in a friendly, comfortable, caring manner. My only regret is that we weren't staying longer.

Room Tip: If you have difficulty navigating stairs, be sure to request a room connected with elevator service...

Super placement in the middle of a wineyard and you can of course drink the wine from the wineyard in the hotel. Great food, great people and a spa that is super is also fantastic. Loved it! And so did my Mom (80).

My Wife & I enjoyed a night at La Cueillette on our return from Italy recently. We were so happy with our choice when we arrived, as we had only read about this hotel on tripadvisor a week or so prior. Beautiful surroundings, lovely village, and the hotel / chateau is outstanding. We found the staff very polite, welcoming and totally professional. We also enjoyed dinner at their gastronomic restaurant, sat outside on their terrace and enjoyed a superb evening, very authentic french cooking, with a 'gastronomic' twist, truly superb. The rooms are delightful, modern, clean, very comfortable, just what we needed after a 7hr drive up from Italy. We too read the review posted by Slam_10, I can only assume they must have stayed at a different hotel?! We will most definitely return, probably this Autumn, we were SO impressed, you MUST stay here, and you MUST have dinner too, it's a perfect half way point for Italy.

Room Tip: Ensure you book a room with views over the vineyard.

This is an absolutely gorgeous property! Pulling up to the chateau felt like being in a movie. There was a review by Slam_10 that took several issues with this hotel, but I had a completely different experience. My fiancé and I booked a superior room and requested a nice view....we were given exactly that. Just a surreal view overlooking the vineyards. What a treat to wake up to!

Though the exterior and common areas of the hotel are classic belle epoque styling, the guest rooms and spa are completely refitted to be modern, chic, and clean. White sheets, wood floors, no old rugs or stuffy drapes...beautiful.

Though we didn't have any spa treatments, we did make use of the sauna, hammam, pool, and jacuzzi. All were clean and really lovely. Super relaxing environment.

The staff recommended several vineyards in the area and were courteous and helpful. They had bikes for us to take out and explore, which was great.

The only downside [which i was aware of prior to booking], is that the restaurants in the chateau are closed Sunday and Monday...the only days we were staying. The staff did bring us up a nice continental type breakfast to our room both days, and we got to enjoy it on our terrace.

We will definitely be back!

Interesting to have had so different an experience to the reviewer "Slam 10". We had an excellent time at this charming hotel. The atmosphere is wonderful, the service world class and the spa excellent. It might be useful to go through specific points raised by Slam 10 in order for the interested reader to compare our experiences.

1. According to Slam 10 no one offered to help with luggage, and whilst it is true that there was no door man waiting, we were immediately offered help on entering the reception. I think this is appropriate, La Cueillette has an unobtrusive style.

2. Co-incidently it was also my wife's birthday, I mentioned this fact very casually ...in passing...to the head waiter. To our surprise a cake materialised at the end of dinner, a cake for which we were not charged.

3. Our two rooms were unusually good, from out balcony great views across the vineyard to Meursault. The finishings were excellent.

4. The spa is excellent, and the pool warm. Although it is true that 5 mosaic tiles have come off from one area of the hot tub.

5. Finally we found breakfast to be unusually good.

In summation we had an excellent time in this wonderful place.
