“We really loved this friendly hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2011

We stayed at the hotel as part of a walking week. The staff were lovely and friendly and the owner's son could not have been more helpful. Although there was a limited choice on half board, they were more than happy to cook other meals to suit our various diets within the group. The rooms were lovely and very spacious indeed.
Bad Goisern is also a very pretty village with excellent facilities and very good rail links to Bad Ischl and Hallestatt. It is a much nicer place to stay than Bad Ischl, with a much nicer setting and very much prettier. We would happily go back.

Room Tip: All the rooms we had were good

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of our walking holiday around the Salzkammergut. We stayed in the Maria Theresia pension, which is part of the Moserwirt hotel, our dinners were at Moserwirt but our breakfasts were supplied at the pension. Lovely rooms, clean large bathrooms, very friendly staff and all in all highly reccommended. Quiet situation so able to sleep very well. The Pension is situated 5 minutes walk away from the Moserwirt hotel

Stayed one night in September 2009 during biking trip. Our double room was really huge. Bed was comfortable but too soft for me. It was very quite at night. So, all was OK and clean but, generally speaking, looked as might be in need of some renovations quite soon, particularly carpet in our room. Half board meal was decent. Spa sauna was very clean and pleasantly hot. Hosts are attentive and friendly.

We (2 + 2 (16y+12y)) stayed in this lovely hotel for 4 nights. It's best for its location (at the very center of the lower lakes district), in the village so you have just outside some restaurants and cafés. The room, we were in the PENTHOUSE which is huge, is very clean and equip with everything. It's not cheap, but if you want hotel facilities with the comfort of an apartment its ideal.
Also just steps from the hotel there are all the supermarkets so also very convenient. The tourist information is in the attach building – very helpful.
As it located inside the village the view from the room are not so dramatic (ok, but not more).
If you are very sensitive to noise so the church is very close and the bells can be heard (we did not have any problem with it). Also as the wood floor is very squeaky. The spa is nice and nice ending after a long day.
The breakfast is good, and we defiantly recommend it for families

Gasthof Moserwirt is a locally owned hotel with a very good restaurant and small spa. My husband and I traveled with our two teenagers, so we spent two nights in a large top floor apartment. It had a full kitchen, one bath area with a spa tub and a washing machine, a separate lovely shower room and toilet, three bedrooms(one large & two small), living and dining areas, and a small balcony. Everything was very new and of good quality. The entire hotel was sparkling clean. The decor of most rooms and the hotel was typical Austrian country. The restaurant was excellent serving hearty Austrian food. It was full of local people as well as the separate bar "stubel". The hotel also has a tree-shaded courtyard where food and drink are served. The staff was helpful and pleasant.

The charming town of Bad Gosiern is just South of Hallstadt Lake and is an inexpensive atlernative to the towns of Hallstadt or Bad Ischl. Hiking trails lead to Hallstadt and to the surrounding mountains. This less touristy town has a lovely stream running through a landscaped park. Bad Goisern has several small hotels, cafes, restaurants, grocery stores, and a train station.

  • Liked — Everything was very comfortable.
  • Disliked — The smoking in the bar area.
  • Tips/Secrets — The area tourist bureau is next door. Walk on the trail by the stream from the dam and to the park.
