“Very nice stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2012

We spent four nights at the hotel. The reception staff was always very kind and helpful. We arrived early in the morning and they provided us with an area to change into our ski gear.
Service at the restaurant was also good and friendly. Staff learned our preferences quickly and very very prompt to serve us. Food was of good quality and we enjoyed particularly the evening with specialties from Tyrol (and we overate!). The salad bar and the dessert buffets are also quite good, but we missed the appel strudel!. Breakfast selection was standard.
The room was perfectly adequate for the two of us and had a very large balcony facing SW. The bathroom was very good with a great shower. TV set is rather last century though! The gym is state of the art with very advance equipment. Spa isn't our cup of tea and we didn't visit.

Room Tip: We had a great room with a large balcony facing south-weat

A truly excellent hotel situated adjacent to an apres ski bar (Hohenhaus Tenne) and the glacier ski lifts. Despite the busy location, there is no noise, and nothing to disturb guests.

Food was excellent throughout, with a good choice of dinner menus, and a vast breakfast. Staff were friendly, and seemed genuinely to want guests to be comfortable.

Our room was large, with a powerful shower - just what was needed after skiing.

The ski room is well equipped, and secure, with lockable ski racks, boot driers and CCTV.

The pool is a reasonable size, with an outside jacuzzi!

Hotel is clean, friendly, cannot be more accommodating. We stayed for a week half board and I have never eaten so much lovely food. You are just across the road from the main ski lift. Things couldn't be easier. Pool was beautiful, the kids loved the outside part of the pool. Everything was laid back and easy. I would highly recommend this hotel and hope to be visiting it again soon.

Great location, very good SPA, all over good value for money, but a very low scoring in food quality! It's incredible to think that just few miles away is the great cuisine of Italian Hotels!
Just the Breakfast is up to a four Star Hotel standard. Thye wine list ( mostly Austrian wines) is great with some interesting producers, but I found it overpriced. Incidentally in the Hotel complex there is a Sport shop, the prices here are outrageous! DO NOT SHOP HERE. The best part however is the Hintertux glacier. In between 20 minutes you reach the peak at almost 3500 meter, this is great! The sloipes were fantastic, and I do really recommend the place for people that want to ski late in the season.

The hotel is located at the very end of Tuxertal (a side valley branching SW-ward from Zillertal). The actual village of Hintertux lies about a mile downhill to the NE. The hotel is part of an assemblage of several large hotels built at the end of the valley, immediately adjacent to the base station of the cable car. The cable car station is less than 100 m from the front door.

There is no cozy center of town here (just several large buildings and parking lots). For that, one would have to stay in the village of Hintertux, but put up with a short bus ride. The hotel is super convenient to the cable car. When I am coming off the slopes tired and sweaty, I want either a hot shower ASAP or some apres ski, both of which is available. You can be in your hotel room withing minutes of getting off the cable car, or you can pick from 2 apres ski hotspots: the Honenhaus Tenne to the right as you are walking out of the cable car station, or the Sandler Bar to the left (nothing to do with Adam Sandler; "Sandler" in Austrian means bum).

The Sandler Bar is an outdoor place for drinks. The Hohenhaus Disco is great, if you like the German/Austrian apres ski scene. Fun music, beer, schnapps, & DJ Maxxi.

The hotel is nice, very clean, well run. The building is about 20 years old, the sort of rural, cozy, warm Austrian style. Nice & attentive staff. One thing I found a bit funny is the menu in the restaurant. After several months working in SE Asia, I was looking forward to some homey Austrian cooking (goulasch, spaetzle, Wienerschnitzel, elk steak with read kraut, wild boar ragu etc). Instead, the restaurant attempts too often to serve haute cuisine, which ends up not very good. If the family Tipotsch is reading this, I would re-thing that concept and be more Austrian instead! :) Otherwise, the waiters and waitresses are super!

A few practical things:
1.- Free parking for guests in their 2-storey underground garage. A tight squeeze if you drive an A6, 5-series or a ML Merc SUV. Nothing bigger will fit.

2.- Road from the A-12 Inntal Autobahn up to Mayrhofen is flat, wide and well maintained. From Mayrhofen up to Hintertux, the road is narrower, with a few steep grades and about 6 switchbacks, but nothing too extreme - a typical Alpine road. Snow chains are mandatory when the road is covered with snow. Exception is made for AWD or 4x4 vehicles equipped with winter tires. However, nobody was checking this and I saw most cars drive up to Hintertux without chains.

3.- The Honenhaus disco closes at about 8-9 pm and the whole area is very quiet when you are ready to go to sleep.

4.- I had an all-in deal for 6 nights including room, half pension (breakfast & dinner), and lift tickets, for about 1050 Euro. Good deal.

5.- I went here for a quick solo ski getaway for 5 days. Was not looking for much beyond a comfortable room, DSL and a shower. However, the hotel has a good sauna, good pool, supposedly massages (did not try) and a solarium. I paid for a double room for single use. It was tiny (just enough for 1). If you go as a couple, get a larger room, the standard double is too small.

6.- There is an InterSport store on the ground floor, well stocked, knowledgeable staff - hotel guests get a 10% discount. There is also a convenience/gift store.

7.- A wide range of Tirolean schnapps can be bought at the convenience store at the hotel. But, a better thing is to go to the Trummlerhof in Mayrhofen (http://trummlerhof.at/), and buy homemade schnapps from this family directly (cheaper and more fun). I bought 4 liters to take home.

I stayed here with my wife around Easter in 2007.The Hotel was amazing. We had a reservation for a double room but they upgraded us to a suite, for free. The personnel was very friendly, they all are english speakers. The rooms were very clean,The food was excelent. We did not find a thing to complain about. But the main attraction of this Hotel was the pool area-mainly the exterior jacuzzi that had an extraordinary view of the mountains around.I would definitely go there again.

I've been ther with my girlfriend after Easter. It was a fantastic experience. The hotel is very clean, the staff is friendly, the pool and spa absolutely great. It's the number 1 destination in my list of skiing places in Europe.I've been in France also,at Chamonix but the 4 star hotel from there was kind of 3 or 2 star hotel in Hintertux-a great disapointment. So,if you're looking for good prices and an wonderful stay come to Neuhintertux Hotel-the best in Tyrol!

  • Liked — the spa
  • Disliked — there were some noisy italians at pool one day and they were splashing around
