“Great Relaxing Stay... Tiny Niggles”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

We booked this as a last minute (literally!). We wanted somewhere that was relaxing, away from the crowds and resembled paradise. Well we sure got that!

The resort is nestled in a small bay with two of the other Samed resorts (Lima Coco and Le Vimarn ). Because of this you get a real feeling of exclusivity that you just wouldn't get elsewhere. We were told beforehand that Ao Prao is where most of the locals go for the weekend.

Upon arrival to the private pier they check your bags for you and you don't see them again until you are taken to your cottage. We are still trying to work out how they got there as there wasn't another boat leaving before ours....

We booked a beach front cottage and these are beautiful from the outside. The bedroom is also very nice, simple but smart. The bathrooms do look a bit dated it has to be said and I would have wanted something a bit more modern for the price tag...

The food is great however not cheap cheap but if you want quality then why would you mind paying for it?

Service was awesome. Second to none.

I had two Thai massages on the beach whilst there which were the best I HAVE EVER HAD. And all for only 400 THB per massage! Do give them a small tip though as they work hard.

Niggles:

1. WIFI - Only available in the reception but it is free. This wasn't a major issue for my friend and I as we wanted the relaxation but for the price it should be everywhere.
2. They charge to take the Kayaks and Snorkelling gear out. Should be free again considering the price.

All in all you will love this resort if you want some peace and relaxation in your own little bit of paradise!

Enjoy!

First of all, the review is not posted at the right place since the hotel is not at Rayong but on the island of Ko Samet. You reach the island with the boat of the hotel is about 15 minutes. The hotel is perfectly located on a beautiful beach where you have only 3 hotels, it's almost a private beach ! The rooms/bungalows are comfortable (with all modern comfort) in a nice tropical garden where the only noise are the birds ! You'll find on the beach the massage place and the diving center. The diving center is managed by a very professional team and we really enjoyed it ! The dives themselves were nice but not unforgeatable, but I would still recommend. The food was good with sea food BBQ available for dinner. A nice beach restaurant (the Buzz) belonging to the same Group is located 5 minutes walking distance where you can also enjoy a nice cocktail and eat with your feet in the sand. the swimming pool facing the sea is great ! The beach and the sea are great notably with young kids. Clearly, I recommend the hotel to relax for a few days. The island of Ko Samet itself is nothing exciting and the village located on the other side of the island is average but can be reached with a pick up. We also went to Paradee resort which belongs to the same Group (but more top end category).

The Ao Prao beach and resort are isolated from the main beaches crowds and night time shows etc. making it a good location when looking for a more quiet experience. Great for couples.

The accommodation is a of good standard although the cabins seem to be of different construction dates, the restaurant is fine but the stuff seems a bit bored or just not interested. Overall a good choice; when on a budget you can find much better value on the other side of the island.

Room Tip: Hard to tell how big when there is a big difference between the types of accommodation. Doesn't...

This is the second time I have stayed at the resort and it's even better than when I was here 6 years ago. The service and cleanliness are outstanding, the location divine, and the peacefulness from being in paradise simply restorative! I only had a stop over in Thailand on my way home but extended it just so I could come here again. I want to stay here forever!!!

Room Tip: Each hut is separate, but nestled together in a cluster facing the water. Both times my room was fan...

The boat ride and transfer to Koh Samet is easy, but sufficiently long for you to know you are decently offshore. Ao Prao Resort is on a truly unspoilt part of the island. When you are there, you see nothing else apart from the stunning beach and sea. The main reception building and restaurant is a beautiful structure and the individual cabins are extremely high quality and very private - complete with wonderful outside showers that are also private.

The service is typically Thai - smiling and gracious.

If you want somewhere to really get away from it all and relax in heavenly surroundings, this is a wonderful choice. Highly recommended.

This shall be a detailed review as Iam in love with this resort. JUst 2 hours from Bangkok and a 10 minute speed boat transfer from Ban Phe Pier is this hidden gem. There is a private pier with a nice waiting area before the boat takes you right on the beach of the resort. The beach is shared with 3 other resorts all with few guests,it is almost like having the entire beach to yourself.
On arriving we were given refreshing welcome drinks and move to a two bedroom suite (400) which was well appointed and had a good private balcony with a view. The pool area, the swings on the beach and the coffee shop are all fantastic. The staff went overboard catering to our every need and the food was just top drawer. We had rain for 2 days and then sunshine for the next 4. The beach is incredible even if not very long and quite narrow (the same is the case with all beaches on Koh Samed). There is a lot of junk and debris that tends to get washed up on the beach but there are sweepers cleaning it through the day. Overall the experience was very good, the color of the water, the food and drinks, the two band team in the lobby churning out good music, the pool (saltwaterish),just a fantastic combo. It is set on the more exclusive and quiet part of the island which makes it all the while more worthwhile. The three ladies offering massage on the cordoned off area of the beach are magical. If you want to skip going to an over commercialized resort and get away to somewhere real and beautiful this is the place.PERFECT FOR COUPLES.

Two things to note - Stairs, there a re a lot of them, specially if your villa is higher up on the hill, and these stairs tend to be slippery in the rain.

The pressure of water in the showers was inadequate. It just didnt kick in even after minutes of waiting.

Iam going back to this place really soon, thats how much I liked it.

Room Tip: We took 400, a two bedroom suite with a sprawling living room, it was fantastic !

This was a great hotel, the beach is beautiful and clean and the staff offered great service. We actually were upgraded on arrival to the top resort their because our air conditioner was broken. There are three resorts on this beach, all run by the same group and are at varying levels of luxury. The breakfast included option was good with a wide range of food. The rooms were very comfortable and great standard. The restaurant at Breeze was lovely, sitting outside on the balcony in the evening with a fire show as well. The pool was nice and the staff were friendly. Was a relaxing weekend! I'm going back there tomorrow!!
