“Courteous staff, clean rooms but laregely empty resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

We stayed at the Belle Villa Resort for 3 days in mid-March 2013, we had made some special requests at the time of booking and we were very pleased to see that these were taken into consideration and acted upon prior to our arrival. It was rather unfortunate for the resort that they were having problems with their phone lines when we arrived and thus were not able to processes credit cards. Good for them, that this was fixed during our stay there.
The rooms we were provided were very clean, had the standard amenities, and good protection from little forest creatures (insects). The room (as with all in the resort I believe) had a view of the mountains that was good to see.
The location of the resort is good, a bit off the main road, as that offers it the quite and secluded atmosphere. The concept mall/community center Palio is about a couple of minutes drive away and the national park entrance is about 10minutes drive. There are plenty of good restaurants from 2-15 minutes drive. The city of Pak Chong is about 20-25 minutes away.
The only down sides to the resort was that it was largely empty (owing to the fact that we go there during weekdays) and it was a little pricey compared to other resorts nearby. Also though the resort had a large and beautiful pool with reflections of the mountains, it had leaves floating in it, and didn't have many pool chairs/umbrellas.
All in all, we had an excellent stay and would recommend Belle Villa as a good place to stay and relax.

The main reason for staying at Bella Villa Resort is to visit Khao Yai. Having travelled extensively around Asia and in particular Thailand, we tend not to book trips in advance but to hire a taxi and go wherever we wish once we get there, so why should Khao Yai be any different? This is the biggest issue with Khao Yai. You arrive at your hotel, ask about the possibility to get a taxi, to which you are told 'there are no taxis'. We then asked what trips they did, to be passed onto a travel guide who decides he wants 290 Euros for a day out for 2 adults and 2 kids! We decided to take a different approach and went to a small shack for dinner and asked around for taxis, to which were put in touch with the same guy who arranges tours for the hotel. We tried at other places and once again, same story, one guy has the monopoly for the area where Bella Villa is located. Not being the type of person to be forced to do business with 'the mafia', I complained to the hotel about their lack of interest to ring a taxi for me from nearby Pak Chong. At this point I was told that ‘the tour guide wouldn’t like it'. All trips from the hotel are clearly run by one person. Please ensure you arrange trips before heading out to Bella Villa or you will have the choice of being taken advantage of by the local mafia or spending the whole of your trip in your hotel room. Alternatively hire a car!

Enough said about the lack of tours from the hotel, now onto the hotel facilities. Bella Villa is set in fantastic gardens with the best swimming pool I have ever seen (just as well, there is nothing else to do!). Rooms are really clean, great facilities and of a good size. price for a nights stay at Bella Villa is very reasonable, however the cost of food and drink is outrageous. We discovered a couple of little shacks on the main road at the top of the entrance to Bella Villa and chose to eat there, much more sensible prices and I like to support the local 'shack community' when in Asia.

All in all, Bella Villa is a nice hotel. It is very Thai and gets really busy at weekends with very few foreigners but surprisingly mid week and out of season and we were the only people staying in the hotel. As already over stated, only advice about this place is arrange your trips/tours in advance or hire a car otherwise you will have a very expensive or very boring stay.

This report is tardy though that's because the property was not listed on TA when I stayed.

Overall happy with the Belle Villa and I would stay there again. Room was modern and comfortable enough and internet worked OK. Pool is very nice and my room had great mountain & pool views. This might be the newest hotel in the area (some others are quite old).

Not many westerners visit Khao Yai, and the staff's English speaking abilitiy is limited as expected but not a big problem for me. Breakfast buffet was adaquate and tasty.

Nothing within walking distance and you'll need a car or driver to get you around the area, as is the case with other hotels in Khao Yai. Fortunately I was with a group of Thais because otherwise I don't know if I would have been able to find the Bella Villa. It's not visible from the main road, and you need to go down a dark and narrow winding soi to get from the main road to the hotel.
