We (my wife, son and I) reside in Sharjah, U.A.E. I am a Club Mahindra member - they are a major player in the holiday sector of India. Every year (during July/August - that is when my son has his annual vacation) we visit India and through this membership, we get to stay at one of their resorts (which I have booked earlier) for 7 days.
During one such holiday (not in 2012 as mentioned below but earlier), we went to Coorg and stayed at the Club Mahindra resort. We went to the resort with my in-laws.
We landed there at around 7.30pm. Porters came to our car (with their trolley) to remove the luggage and we were ushered into the lobby where I completed the check-in formalities.
This resort has many single and double-storeyed buildings built like the traditional houses in that part of the world and each building has 8-10 rooms.
We were given 1 such room - a studio room with a fridge, TV, attached bathroom and a sit-out (verandah). There was a sofa set just as we entered the room and at the other side (near the balcony) was the double-bed.
And the surrounding was lot of trees (to give a feel of being in a village) - it was wonderful !!!
But the best part was the meals (it has always been something that Club Mahindra has been very particular about - food). In almost all their resorts, there are packages whereby one can get 3 meals at a certain price (which is definitely not cheap but which is still quite reasonable).
The restaurant is connected to the lobby (where we initially checked in). And like most of the other buildings, this also looked out at the dense forest around. Add to that the ambience of the room itself. Beautiful setting !!
It is a buffet system in all Club Mahindra resorts (and this resort is no exception). The variety of food items dished out in exquisite style spoils you for choice !! You have to be a good eater and be empty-stomached when you are there if you want to enjoy the various items laid out. It is the same for all three meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner).
The first two days, my father-in-law only criticized - the waste of food, how hotels were very business-minded in their ways, how small the room were, etc. But he too was taken in by the absolutelyu professional ways of Club Mahindra - the cleanliness, the politelness and helpfulness of the staff, the speed os service - and he actually admitted (quite grudgingly) that this indeed was a great experience for him !!!
There is also an area reserved for children's activities and a playroom. My son played some games there. Outdoor, there were swings. We sat on those and enjoyed - it was as if we had left all our worries far behind.
If your idea of a holiday matches mine, then you need to go here. Believe me, you will not be disappointed. We definitely weren't. This is definitely one of thos holidays which we will remember for a long time.
All the rooms are good. It depends on what your taste is. Also on the availability.
