“Best hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

I recently stayed at the Danna Hotel with my partner and two friends for 10 days. I can honestly say it is the best hotel I have ever stayed in and I have stayed in some other wonderful hotels. The staff couldn't do enough for you. They were always polite and made you feel that nothing was ever a problem. They really put themselves out for you. The whole of the hotel and surrounding area was kept beautifully clean. Our bed was changed every day without fail and the towels were changed twice a day . Each night the bed would be turned down and a bucket of ice would be left. Lots of little things were done throughout the day to make your stay even more. The food was excellent served in fabulous surroundings. We couldn't have wished for anything more it was a fantastic stay and we will definitely be returning. I would like to take the opportunity to thank the entire staff for making our stay so memorable.

The Danna's staff were very welcoming and helpful, the room really lovely and very clean. It was hard to get out of the very comfortable bed each morning! We didn't intend to spend most of our time at the Danna and by the pool, but it was such a lovely, relaxing place that we didn't do much else and had a superb holiday. It was topped off by a staff member coming around to each deck chair offering to clean sunglasses (and doing a great job). Highly recommended holiday.

The Danna is a stunning hotel! Beautiful rooms, colonial style buliding, marvelous pool-area and great service from a very friendly staff! I loved my stay there and didn't want to leave. The only negative was the beach. The beach is ok, but we were unlucky to be there during jellyfish season. Nobody bathed or swimmed at the beach in front of the hotel during our stay. Luckily the pool area is so beautiful so it didn't feel like a loss. A suggestion if you want nice beach is to take a trip to Thailand island of Koh Lipe. It takes 50 minutes with speedboat to get there and the boat leaves from Teleaga Harbour just next to the hotel. Koh Lipes beaches are great and the water clear and warm. They didn't seem to have the same jellyfish-problem there.
I wouldn't hesitate to go back to the Danna.

Superb colonial style hotel well situated with most obliging and helpful staff. Relatively new and therefore has not become tardy in any respect. Because it is so new some of the staff have not been trained to meet western requirements in that they are too keen to be helpful and clear plates and cutlery before meal has been completed. An ideal venue if you want rest and relaxation only as thankfully it does not have squawking music round the pool as it is in some resorts.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view if you want sun on balcony all day

We have just returned from The Danna Hotel in Langkawi and how we wish we were still there. We have travelled extensively over the last 40 years and stayed in some top class hotels worldwide but the Danna set the bar a few notches higher. The term "going the extra mile" is an understatement with respect to the service you can expect at this hotel. No expense has been spared in its construction, the colonial style is extremely detailed and stunningly finished. The rooms are lavishly furnished, kept nipping clean and superbly maintained. This level of excellence is evident in every department.Hazura and her front desk team are a revelation in their efficiency and willingness to help. The same can be said for Ingo/Fuhad and the F&B staff.Jaswinder(Guest Experience Manager) was so attentive we felt she had been assigned to us alone, she was brilliant. The bar staff and waiters are wonderful, their excptional service is surpassed only by their friendliness. Many Many thanks for an unforgettable stay.

Stayed for 5 days R&R after visiting Hong Kong & Singapore. Can only reiterate all the previous comments about location, service etc - truly wonderful - however there was a large wedding reception being held just after we left and a 7 section marquee was constructed on the 'infinity' line to accommodate this, which rather spoilt the view! Would definitely revisit without hesitation but would check for wedding bookings first!

Room Tip: we had a grand viceroy marina room - see much better value than the viceroy sea view rooms

This is a wonderful hotel. I loved the colonial style feel of it with the high ceilings and dark wood furnishings. The designers have really done a remarkable job and that includes the swimming pool. It is unusual, clever and quite beautiful. I also love that there is no music by the pool and no animation team doing water aerobics. It is just peaceful and serene. There are some negative aspects, our room, 442, looked out over quite a busy road and it's a shame the beach isn't really usable. The hotel can't do anything about these things and tries very hard to be the best that it can be given these limitations. We had a merchant room which is the lowest grade but it was beautiful and had one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. Breakfast is amazing. I loved the free champagne, the tinkling of the piano and having a daily menu for eggs and waffles etc. It beats queing up at an egg station. I didn't realise for some days that other coffees could also be ordered, the normal coffee was very good anyway. We went to the Friday night BBQ, it was good food but at 175 ringitts each it was rather expensive. For that price they should include wine or soft drinks. Later in the trip we stayed at the Lone Pine hotel in Penang and their special buffet grill night was 115 ringett had equally good food and did include free flowing wine and beer. We took the hotel car & driver, Fendi, for half day and had a tour round the north part of the island and did the Mangrove tour from Kelim Jetty. It was a lovely time out and quite reasonable at 35 ringitt per hour. The hotel benefits from being next to Perdana Quay, it would be a bit isolated otherwise. There are quite a few restaurants there, we tried The steakhouse, Tapas Bar and USSR and they were acceptable. The best was the Privilige Restaurant. There is also a convienience store that has quite a selection of reasonably priced wines & spirits and a laundry which is 5 ringitt per kilo to wash & dry and 1.5 ringitt per item for ironing. If you walk round the harbour there is an ATM at the Petronas petrol station. There is a business suite on the third floor of the hotel with 2 computers and printer guests can use for free.
We did have a few issues while we were there but were very impressed with how quickly things were put right and how keen the staff are to make sure that you are happy. The staff without exception are charming, sometimes a little ineffectual but always delightful. We loved the Malaysian dances that the staff did on the grill night, they really looked as if they were enjoying themselves, especially Amy. I don't think anyone could not love this hotel.

Room Tip: The room are in a square with a courtyard in the middle. The side we were on in 442 looks out over a...
