We've been here a couple of times now, and for anyone wishing to visit "real" Northumberland there's no better place to be based.
It's might not be the cheapest, and at first glance some may feel it's a bit "out of the way". The simple fact is "you get what you pay for". First class accommodation in a simply stunning location. In my view, ideally situated (10 minutes from Alnwick & Castle, 10 minutes from Cragside, and not much further than that to the beach). Yes, you can rent somewhere closer to the coast, but in my experience it's third rate accommodation, next to busy roads, often shared facilities with lots of "neighbours" of varying description. And bad value for money!
If you want your base to be "yours" and not just to be "part of the masses" then this is for you. Don't go in August though, 'cos that's when we like to book it.
You won't be disappointed.
