“Nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2014

Atmosphere is beautiful. A gorgeous new lodge, but would be nice to have a few more dinner tables in the fireplace area available for a classier experience. There are choices of nice booths in like a breakfast style area, or some tables in the stone fireplace area. Food was better than average, not huge portions but enough. Service was excellent. Salad bar had a lot of variety and well stocked. Wait staff very courteous and accommodating. Restrooms were very clean. When we return I would try the Chicken Pot Pie, it looked amazing.

Only odd thing was the long table for 8 we all sat at had an underneath trim that ran exactly knee height under the table and you couldn't pull yourself up close to this particular table. So you had to lean over a bit to eat or bump your knees (which we all took turns doing accidentally). Beautiful look to the table, definitely fit with the whole rough outdoorsy decor, but the original table designer must not have tried to SIT at the table and actually eat a dinner off it. However it wasn't terrible enough to ruin the evening or anything. Designers need to think of function not just form.

Room Tip: We're local and only went for dinner, didn't stay overnight. We would go again. Would love t...

Liked everything about this place! we did a romantic couple's getaway.. our suite room#402 had king bed, studio style suite complete with full kitchen and utencils. Nice clean bathroom. Only thing is that it did not have a dishwash sponge even though it had dishwash liquid. I also did not see a safe. The gas fireplace was very romantic. We stayed for the weekend. We did snow tubing for $25 pp 5 hour mountain coaster ride which was breath taking $10 pp + per ride. Water park came with our groupon voucher 4 tickets!
Acorn grill staff very friendly. We had elk burger $14 pp. Acorn grill charges 18% gratuity for table for 6 or more FYI.

I took my 8 yr old daughter recently to Cascades Water Park for a day pass. Thankfully it was a day that they were offering a special admission price of $15 per person. We love waterparks and go whenever we get the chance. Now as far as waterparks go Cascades is very small, but since we only paid $15 I wasn't too worried about it. The normal price of $35 per person is way too high for a waterpark of this size. I would never pay full price.

But having said that the park itself is very nice. The slides are quite tame, but fun. The water is very clean and warm. There are plenty of lifeguards and I found all of them to be quite active and very attentive. That was very refreshing as many times lifeguards look as though they're thinking about everything other than the safety of my child. Everything was very clean - especially the bathrooms and changing areas, which was very nice to see. There was always a large supply of clean towels to choose from.

They sell food but it was quite expensive so I did not purchase anything.

Overall, the day was very fun and enjoyable.

Spent the MLK holiday weekend at Hope Lake Lodge and Greek Peak. This was our second visit and we have already booked for next year. Of course it helped that it snowed every day so the skiing was great.

The room we had was perfect for us. There were 5 of us in a Ledge Rock Suite which is the same room we booked last year and for next year. Plenty of room. We had the floor plan with the bunk bed nook which were perfect for my 5 and 9 year old girls, and my 12 year old son slept on the pull out couch. There is a kitchenette and dining table which we used for breakfast. As most people do, we brought our own breakfast foods up with us. The only complaint we had was the water-saving bathroom sink faucet. Not enough water to wash your hands and the water that came out sprayed all over the place. Ended up using the kitchen sink for everything.

The water park was perfect. We skied both days and spend the late afternoons in the water park. The kids loved the wave pool and slides, and of course, the indoor/outdoor hot tub. The water everywhere could have been warmer but it wasn't too bad. They did have a towel shortage but we remembered that from last year and brought our own beach towels.

The food was much better this year. They sunk a bunch of money into the restaurant and lifts at the ski mountain. The restaurant there was great. Really nice atmosphere and the food was really good. We ate at the restaurant at HLL one night and it too was good. We did go into Cortland for dinner one night and had a very good (and inexpensive) meal at Central City Bar and Grill. About a 10 minute drive.

The ski conditions were really good. It snowed all day Saturday and even with that they were making snow all day and night. The new lift was great. Looking forward to seeing what improvements they make over this off-season.

Lastly, the staff couldn't have been nicer. Everyone went out of their way with any request.

Hello,
We are happy that you had a great holiday! We certainly appreciate your support and frequent visits to the resort. Thank you. The Hill Crew will be glad that you appreciated their efforts; they take pride in their snow conditions! We have instituted a new auto ship on towels to the Cascade Indoor Waterpark and are monitoring the situation. We value your input and are looking forward to your next visit.

The lodge was really nice. Rooms were perfect for our family. The fireplace in the room kept us cozy. The staff was pleasant and the food was good. The kids loved tubing and skiing. Theres plenty for the kids to do. Worth checking it out. Would have liked to stay longer and would definitely visit and stay again.

My family and I went and stayed at the Hope Lake Lodge on the January 10th,11th,12th,and the 13th. We drove up from West Chester PA on Friday the 10th and drove home Monday the 13th. Sadly it rained on the Saturday we were up there so we could not go skiing but the hotel had many activities to do. They had a restaurant and bar in the lobby and a spa and shop near the elevator. They also had a small gym on the first floor. The person running the shop was very nice and helpful and made the shopping experience easier. But the hotel also hade an arcade and a water park. The water park had an outdoor pool and hot tube, a wave pool, a basket ball pool, a children's area, and two water slides and we where able to be entertained the whole day it rained. We had a suit on the third floor that had three beds and two pull out couches. It had three bathrooms, a kitchen , and a balcony. We skied for one day but sadly the rain made the sloped a little icy but it was still fun. Another great part about the resort is it had a shuttle that would take you from the hotel to the slopes. Overall this was a great place to stay however I think they could spend some money and work on building up their water park a little more and I recommend staying at The Hope Lake Lodge.

Our family, coming from various areas, picked Hope Lake Lodge because of it's central location. We ranged from an 18 month old, to older teens and everyone had a great time. The waterpark was great for the younger kids, the teens had fun with their younger cousins and even the grown men enjoyed the slides, hot tub, and outdoor, heated pool in the middle of winter. The entire group enjoyed the tubes and skiing, and the older kids enjoyed the mountain coaster. Plenty of outdoor activities for all ages. The rooms are very clean and it was fun to have the suites to get together in our rooms for breakfasts and hanging out with families. We enjoyed the restaurant for evening meals and the service was fine. While the rooms were clean, the staff seemed to have their routine, and it was a challenge to have the room cleaned when you were out of the room. Paying attention to when hotel guests are out of the room would improve the overall experience. Overall, we had a good experience and are considering returning for our holiday gathering next year.

Room Tip: The entire area is quiet and remote. If you are not traveling with a group, you might want to ask f...

Hello:
Thank you for your review letting other travelers know that even with a large group different ages everyone is happy. I’ll pass on your comment about housekeeping and see if we can come up with a more flexible way to clean the rooms when it is more convenient for our guests. We are looking forward to seeing you all again next year. Thank you for staying at Hope Lake Lodge.
