The 9+ pools of Hanmer Springs are a must if you're anywhere near the area. As of 9/2006, adult admission was only NZ$10. I keep trying to think of a comparable value in the U.S., and I just can't--we pay the equivalent (about US$6) just to park at a state park in California!

The views (snow-capped mountains) are worth it alone, let alone the refreshing baths.

In any case, I don't see how one could be disappointed by spending an afternoon--or even a whole day--at the hot springs!
