“Amazing Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

Just come back from a conference in Hanmer Springs where we stayed at the Heritage. This hotel is located bang in the middle of a very small but very beautiful town. We were lucky to have a room overlooking the front of the hotel and had an amazing view of the snow capped mountains. The service we received was always excellent and the food was amazing. Great place to take the family with an outdoor pool and tennis courts. There are also loads of things to do in Hanmer including the famous Hanmer Springs Hot Pools. Some colleagues also stayed in the villas that are separate from the hotel. These are three bedroom villas with full kitchens, 2 bathrooms and lounge, dining areas and a garage!! These were great. Can't say enough good things about this property and am already planning to take the husband and kids back on a holiday.

We stayed in a 3-bed 'villa' at the Heritage for one night over the Christmas period. We were disappointed by the standard of the accommodation. The pictures on the website made the villas appear to be quite luxurious but this was not the case. i would have expected more based on the price of them too. We found it to be very rough around the edges - chipped paint work in the bathroom, shabby kitchen with little equipment, balcony was in need of a revamp too.

The hotel grounds were nice though and the villa had a nice outlook over the duck pond.
Perhaps the hotel rooms are nicer.

I informed the front desk staff of our party's disappointment and the initial response was a very definite roll of the eyes! Couldn't believe it - luckily a more senior member of staff stepped in and handled it from that point.

Unlikely to stay here again and certainly wouldn't recommend a villa - could probably get a high quality motel unit for the same price.

Stayed here 3 nights in December with a tour group. Great room on 1st floor. Large and comfortable with two double beds and good en suite. Nice view to the front aspect. Good restaurant with excellent service. Lovely grounds with outdoor pool.
Superb location being short walk to shops cafes and the hot water springs. The walk to ascend Conical Hill is not far and worth the effort on a clear day. Beautiful area.

Room Tip: 1st floor looks favourite

really nice hotel, big comfortable rooms and sprawling beatiful grounds. excellent location, walk to everything. the restaurant was also very nice. the only downside was that the room was really hote wth no cooling (granted this would only be an issue on a few days of the year).

Great location right in the middle of the village and a short walk to the springs. We stayed in the entry level room which was very quite with a nice outlook on to the grounds - pleasant lawns and a rose garden with french doors opening onto a terrace (shared with other rooms with table and chairs. Bathroom was ok - shower over bath .... heritage but clean and great shower. spotless housekeeping. we went for a bed and breakfast package - there we only three other couples at breakfast when we went - buffet is limited but fresh and food was a good standard - the cooked to order omelet was nice - coffee was ok. sky tv offering was limited - no sky news.

Room Tip: the entry level rooms at the back of the building/ground floor was fine; not recommended for childre...

Stayed here in December 2012 for a family Wedding, asked for an early check in. No problems at all, staff went out of their way to ensure this was possible. The Wedding reception was great, however as this is a heritage building it does not have air conditioning in hotel or function rooms. It was 32 degrees and very hot, all windows were open very hard to sleep in the heat. (Asked on check out why there was no air conditioning, their response was as this is a heritage building was difficult to get resource consent to change the building). Found a rate online that was cheaper than booking from their website directly. A good hotel, a tad over priced.

Nice old place but a bit expensive for what you get. Big grounds with a pool. Good being right in the town. Hanmer dinning out is limited and costly but still cheaper than eating at the Heritage itself so I can't comment on the restaurant.
