“Excellent Dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

We visited the Powerhouse Cafe for the last dinner of our roadtrip in Feb. 2013. We didn't have a reservation so we just popped in and luckily got a table for two. The waitress, a perfect english speaking south american was lovely and attentively.
We decided us for a garlic bread and the scallops - prawns entree which was a good decision. the seafood often gets over cooked, but not there. the chef perfectly sauteed the seafood to a tender meal. As mains we had the merino mutton and the duck. Both cooked to to perfection. an explosion of flavours. I'd say it was a meal for advenced eaters.
Unfortunately the portions were too generous and we had to skip the deserts.

Thank you Powerhouse. We highly recommend you!

“Great treats instore!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013 via mobile

Visited for special dinner on warm evening so not up for heavy dinner. Staff very accommodating and had starters made up as main size meals. Fresh, wholesome and refreshing menu. Cute character building with super friendly staff. My pick in Hanmer.

“Busy Brunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

Small but great food. We gave up our table for a party of 5 as we only had our 2nd coffee round to finish our meal. The staff and group were very appreciative.

The coffee is strong but not bitter - just how we like it and the meal was the perfect size with simple but great flavours. Brunch was a great time to sit outside and watch the world go buy.

It's a busy place but I don't think it is a secret anymore. They were busy as... definitely worth a meal. (We've tried them for dessert at night before too and were not disappointed).
