5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2012

This is our second visit. Both times we enjoyed the top quality fit out and service to match. You can really relax here, the beds are comfortable, the apartments are warm and spacious. Really spacious! The kitchen is fully equipped. An easy short stroll to pools and restaurants. Our friends have also stayed and couldn't rate it highly enough. Thoroughly recommended. Luxury accommodation at a very fair price. A great base to explore the area.

Room Tip: Book early as this place is deservedly popular.

Our two nights away in this place were outstanding. The property was stylishly decorated, unlike many others found in Hamner Springs and impeccably clean. The room rate was surprisingly affordable considering the quality of rooms. Staff were very helpful and pleasant at all times. Full Marks!

Excellent in every way. Service was outstanding, room was stunning and so so comfy, well priced and close to everything in the township. Loved our stay and would recommend to everyone. Thank you so much!

From the moment I stepped into this place, I loved it. Staff at reception were very friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. The place was clean, modern and spacious and you could quite easily have a long stay here, as the apartments are fully self contained. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment. They supplied everything you could thing of in the room, right down to the least expected kitchen utensil. The kitchen was fitted out with designer kitchen appliances and there was an island work bench. There were complimentary snacks on the dining table and the complimentary toiletries were handcrafted with natural products and essential oils. There were TV's in the lounge room and the master bedroom (such a luxury). There was a lovely gas heater which nicely warmed the room. We stayed in a ground floor apartment, but I would probably stay in an upper floor apartment so that you have a bit more balcony privacy. The apartment complex is about a 10-15min walk to the thermal pool. Towels were supplied by reception for the thermal pool. The apartment is within walking distance of the town centre - there is a 4 square supermarket, and close to many walks, including Conical Hill. One thing I liked about the online booking system for this property was that they do not debit you credit card until you check out, unlike many places which debit the full amount once you click the "book now" button.

I would definitely stay here again.

This really is a great place to stay. Modern, well equipped and well located. Spacious apartments with good fittings and furnishings - none of the too-often found in NZ "Granny's Furniture" here!

Very comfortable beds, warm rooms, double glazing and a gas open fire. Did not see any aircon for the summer though.

We had a glorious weekend and will return. One note for the owners: the carpark is treacherous when icy. Both my wife and I nearly fell several times and some salt or grit on the car park and surrounding walkways really ought to be applied in such weather.

Village Lake Apartments have that WOW factor from the moment you are shown in the front door by Brian. The 2 bedrooms apartments are incredibly spacious and have a modern design that is immediately both pleasing and cosy, if that makes sense. There is a fantastic feature fire place which warms the entire large open plan living / dining / kitchen area. Kitchen is supplied with quality plunger coffee, tean and milo.

All possible appliances and accessories are included in the large fully equipped kitchen and you could quite easily self cater for an extended stay (although that would mean missing out on some fantastic dining options in this beautiful little mountain village.)

The bedrooms are large and beds are blissfully soft and comfortable to sleep in. The large bathroom has a spa incorporated in the bath and an excellent shower head with good water pressure. All manner of top quality toiletries are thoughtfully included.

The views to the snow capped mountains are breathtaking through all the windows and also the good sized balcony, yet the complex is set back 1 block back from the main street and is peaceful and quiet, ensuring maximum relaxation.

There is a gate (open fence) at the back corner of the property allowing access to the main street via the adjoining Heritage Hotel car park, making the walk to all the cafes, pubs, bakery etc a short 500 metre stroll or so. This includes the front entrance to the famour hot springs complex.

Brian is the consumate host, and provided us with accurate and concise tips and suggestions that answered all of our questions.

I could not fault this property - ticks every box and gets perfect 10's across the board.

NB - there are also 3 bedroom suites fitted out the same as the 2 bedroom apartments except that there are 2 bathrooms instead of just one.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for couples, families, groups of friends.

Room Tip: Park on the eastern side of the car park (ie - against the fence) to allow the morning sun to work o...

We stayed for 4 nights and loved this accommodation. So comfortable and spacious. We had 2 young children & nanna as well & everything was top notch. Beautiful views & right in the heart of town yet also private & peaceful.
