“Peaceful retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

Great beach with easy access from a major airport. The village is small but has great restaurants. I took kite surfing lessons and I loved it.

“Noisy and busy but nice views!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

Very busy beach, full of young people drinking......

Not very much my style and what I am looking for on a beach, but the view is stunning!

Beautiful beach!

“A unique place, magical!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

Canoa has a very different atmosphere, different from Jericoacoara (great for sightseeing), Canoa is a place to party, with a very active Main Street, it has several night clubs with different musical styles, and some very different places at the waterfront, like Freedom Bar, where the bonefire, drinks and Reggae are up all night long.
Definetely crazy!

“very beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2012

Definitely a must if you look for a good and beautiful beach, with safety and stress-free. The village mixes a lively street with bars and high quality restaurants (local and international) with a peaceful beach (or lively restaurants/bars depending on the place). Walk south on the beach and you will find a natural pool to play. To see the dunes, the buggy drivers may decrease the price after 4pm since tourists in day trips from Fortaleza leave the beach at this time. Different from Fortaleza, in Canoa I was not ripped off all the time and people were more friendly (I'm Brazilian by the way), services were better, etc... I recommend staying in Canoa and visiting Fortaleza one day/night if you do wish. Canoa is easily accessible from Fortaleza by bus or Mossoró (RN) by taxi (from Mossoró one can get another taxi or bus to Natal). In both cases, simply take a "shared taxi" from Canoa to Aracati bus station (cheap and frequently available, the departure is in the end of the Broadway -opposite to the beach- at walking distance from the hotels). In Aracati, taxi drivers offer affordable trips to Mossoró or Natal. I don't recommend the bus to Natal of Mossoró though, typically delayed. Take a taxi instead. Busses to Fortaleza are more reliable but can be taken directly in Canoa.
