“Love it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2014

We spent the afternoon at Luquillo Beach after visiting El Yunque earlier in the day. We absolutely loved the kiosks. We ate bacalaoitos (flattened fries cod fish), pinchos (shiskebobs), and pastelillos (Puerto Rican empanadas), and my dad had a freshly cut cold coconut milk. It was delicious! Then we headed behind the kiosks to the beach. We went swimming in the cool water and my brother and I rented a kayak for a cheap price ($5/person per hour). Also there is a food truck with a lady who sells smoothies. Do yourself a favor and get one. They are delicious! We parked in front of the kiosks so we didn't have to pay. But if you enter into the actually luquillo beach facility, it costs about $5. It is a ten minute walk from the area of the beach where we were at to access the part that has the bathrooms.

“Gorgeous. Price is right. ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2014

White sand. Turquoise water. Crabs. Awesome. Right price. Right time of year so not crowded. At all. Woulda thought we were alone on an island. So nice they have a few prices right food stands. Beach chairs to rent for $5/ day. Well worth it and recommended! It was a vacation saver for us and even better than our resort beach.

“Beautiful Beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2014

This is a very nice beach with ample parking. It cost $4.28 to enter but the beach was very clean and a bathhouse, lockers and snack bar were available.

This beach has a nice guarded swimming area with some medium sized waves but if you walk further along the beach to the East there is a beautiful little area with no waves where we sat in the water and chatted with friends. It was peaceful and really beautiful.

Lots of families were there with picnic meals and grills. There was no loud music, jet skis or parasailing like at the big hotel beaches. If you like that type of thing, you probably won't like Balinario Monseratte.

“Wonderful family beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2014

Despite the sea being a bit rough, this was a nice beach even for our 5 yr old to enjoy. Sand is a bit darker than at some other beaches (so hot to the feet after some time in the sun) but very fine and clean. The beach is very wide, has lots of trees bordering it for shade. So plenty of room for you to choose sun or shade spots. It's a bit hard to find located in Kioskos area. If you're going east on PR-3, just before reaching Luquillo proper, you see a ramp on the right before a bridge. Go under the bridge and straight to reach the entrance booth where they'll only charge $4.38 entrance fee per car. If you want to use their showers and changing rooms, there's a $1/pp fee but that was worth it at the end of the day. There are facilities, reasonable cheap vendors and souvenir shops. No pushy beach vendors either. They also rent kayaks $5 per half hour so plenty to do for everyone. We were there early afternoon midweek and it was not crowded at all. The kids loved the ice cream vendor right on the beach. Just watch out for the black birds. They can get pretty territorial. Overall a great day on a wonderful family beach.
