“Exceptionally clean and safe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2008

My 3 yr-old son and I stayed at Ceiba Country Inn for 3 nights during our 6 night trip to PR. The room was so clean, if so inclined, one could have eaten off the floor! Yes, that clean. The bedding was very clean and substantial - I mean - not threadbare like at some small hotels. There was a lovely mural of a blue hibicus on the wall in the room for us to stare at in lieu of a TV. : ) Just kidding, we read books and my son played with his cars. (There was a TV in the lounge -- we weren't in PR to watch TV, but I could catch the news in the morning over breakfast, so that was nice.)

The continental breakfast was fresh fruit, some assorted fresh breads, butter jams and jellies, cereal, juice and coffee - just right to get the day started. The grounds were well manicured, especially considering the surrounding rainforesty looking ... um ... jungle? There were a lot of well-kept, interesting - looking trees on the property. I enjoyed hearing the cocis at night, my son enjoyed his encounters with sappo torros (big toads - just 2, very friendly.) There was a very nice view across the mountainside to the ocean, from the front deck. The grounds were fenced in and off the beaten path - plus the owners have some nice, well-mannered dogs, so we felt very secure there.

The owners were gracious and helpful. I would stay there again.

(Ceiba doesn't seem to have a lot of restaurants, but Farajado and and Loquillo are very close - you can email or ask the owners ahead of time for restaurant suggestions. CCI is very easy to find - due to owners emailing directions to us before we arrived. Plus it is on their website. (Loquillo beach is clean, beautiful and secure - but bring cash if you want to eat at the kiosk on the beach. Oddly, the gift shop there did accept cc - got a nice sun hat there.))

P.S! I liked CCI's location because I could easily get to locations north and south of Ceiba - so it is especially good if you want to explore the eastern side of the island. Lots of interesting places and nice beaches! You're not in Kansas anymore...

My husband and I stayed here for our first few nights in Puerto Rico and wish we had stayed there longer! It isn't fancy but it's clean and quite charming. They do have a lot of animals they've taken in over the years but since we love animals, this was not a problem. Breakfast isn't super fancy either but still good. The bread is made from bananas hanging right outside the Inn.

They allow you to borrow beach towels, coolers, and many other beach necessities. Wish we had taken advantage of this added bonus.

All in all, it is a bit out of the way if you want to experience city life but it's just perfect if you want to spend a few days exploring the awesome rain forest. It was wonderfully quiet and relaxing. I heard that the owners might sell it to move back to the east coast so hurry!

We stayed here with a group while traveling in Puerto Rico. This was a gorgeous location. The rooms were very nice and very clean. The location is great for the rainforest and beach. Great alternative to staying in San Juan if you want to see these attractions. The price was also great, about half of what we paid for a a Holiday Inn Exoress in San Juan. It is a little out of the way, but the it part of the charm of it!

  • Liked — beautiful view, great rooms, great price
  • Disliked — no pool, TVs, but we didn't need them

We stayed two nights at this delightful inn. We were a little hesitant driving to the inn as we passed by a road full of malls. Not what we expected. Then we emerged in the forest to a delightful inn that was clean and neat- good bed and a nice continental breakfast. The inn keepers were pleasant- after they warmed up to you and we got them talking-nice people have been running the inn for 10 years and now have it up for sale. They have many banana tress and harvest banana. Definitely we would return. One down side is the neighbor’s roosters that tend to be noisy-but we just closed the windows the second night and that problem was solved. The rain forest is a must. The view of the forest valley from the Inn a delight. Highly recommend.

We loved the fact that the Ceiba Country Inn abuts the rainforest. It's peaceful during the day, and for a few hours the sound of the coqui frogs is an absolute treat. You can listen to the Coquis on the outdoor eating area outside the lounge, or just leave the windows open in your room. The rooms are simple, in traditional B & B style, with a bed, nighstand, table or desk and chair. No TV, but window air conditioning system that we didn't need because the night-time temperatures were quite comfortable.
One previous reviewer has remarked on the gruff manner of Dick, the husband of the husband/wife team that own the inn. We found that he warms up fine, he just seems gruff at first. Originally from New England, I think the stoicism common to that region is just part of the nature of this couple. We spent time in the evenings winding down in the lounge, and enjoyed getting to know Dick during those times. ONE CAVEAT: The Inn has taken in several dogs and cats. The animals are friendly and frequent only the common areas, but anyone who is afraid of dogs or allergic to cats should be warned.

After days of swimming and snorkeling in less tha 30min beaches or ferry to Culebra, the clean and comfortable room of Ceiba Inn was exactly what we needed for a good rest. With coqui song and AC hum (yes, we needed AC in March), nice sleep is guaranteed.

Decent breakfast to start you up, and being close to highway (about 10 mins), off you go exploring beautiful PR...

Hey folks this place was pretty nice. We stayed here 2 nights instead of the intended 1 night.
Nothing fancy, but clean. Room #9 at the bottom of the steps to the lounge had a conmfortable bed, big clean shower with nice water pressure and very warm water. No TV was ideal. Got to start reading a book and relax a bit.
We arrived late the first night. The key was left in the door so we could gain entry and not wake up the Inkeepers. (pretty remote place to be able to leave a key in the door) We were awakened by the sounds of their 6 or so dogs, including Rosey, greeting a local worker. A breakfast of homemade bread, nice fruit, good coffee and a choice of cereals and yogurts was provided. Headed out for the day and back by 8:30 PM for a few minutes of lounge TV to catch up on the news. They closed a 9PM. So we went to our room and relaxed.
Up early for breakfast some helpful information from Sue and pleasant converstion with Dick the owners and off to a new adventure on Boqueron.

I highly recommend this place. Great water views in the distance and just close enough to the El Yunque to make it a good location.
