“Treasure Beach's Jewel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2010

The Minivan eased down the road a bit, and as we left Treasure Beach's main thoroughfare, past The Treasure Beach Hotel and the thatch covered coffee shop, I wonder? Where's this place I beckoned the driver? "jus duug deh su" he replied. five minutes later, and some absolutely breathtaking view of the coast, the Caribbean, and incredible untouched landscape we pulled a left turn in to a driveway. As we swiftly neared Button Bay Beach Getaway main building, I filled with excitement. The place didn't even look like a hotel, it looked like a nice cottage, just a little big. I looked through the van windshield and I saw the Sea, the Sea through the vine covered deck. i was beautiful. i heard birds, and the wash of waves, The door slid open as a woman you would say is grandma stepped out of a door to the right; wow i thought as i notice the earthen sun coloured cottage behind her. She greeted and welcomed, and smiled, and near forced me to jug the sweet old lady for just being the owner and manager of this place. Trust me on this, three days later i got my squeeze on as I regretfully left, Anyway, back to the trip. I toted my bag for about 6 inches till a gentleman grabbed them from me and I follow him to the stairs. Now these stair took us down the side of what was a cliff facing the sea. I awed at how they etched out the stone and made the must unusual bunch of hotel rooms. Room crave out and made from a sea side cliff. BOOM!. Oh.. sorry! my girlfriends made cause I haven't mentioned her yet so here. Me and my Girlfriend, who I plead the fifth on right now if any ask went to Jamaica, Treasure Beach and had an awesome romantic and enchanting time at the Button Bay Beach Getaway, an I adore you (her) et el.Back to my getaway again... So we were given the seahorse room, He unlocked an catered us into a fabulous room, with a king size bed and a Emperor's of the Caribbean. It seemed as if the room was right on the sea, As I when out on the balcony, the sound, and stimulation of all the water in the world eased me. My sight lulled me a calm, and I felt the a world of tension take back to moment of unbelievable serenity. I braced myself against the rail and looked right, left, down, and the Up, there I stopped for moments to thank God... Good life!, The rest of this week end, is too mushy to write, to stimulating to put in words, but i will tell you, I have not had a more enjoyable time anywhere. There was intuitive service there, I mean they offered me everything I was about to ask for, made me think of magic and stuff, The accommodation I must describe as rustic elegance. Is that a an oxymoron? whatever! but it was, the charm of a cottage perched on the sea with all the amenities. I eased a Red Stripe from the Mini bar and went back to the rail. I felt my friend behind me and moved her in front. We spent quite sometime there, just us and the calm quiet of sea... I'm not done yet... there's more... and its even better that this Button Bay Beach Getaway is just that...http://www.buttonbayjamaica.com

“Quiet and secluded even by Treasure Beach standards”

My wife and I had a wonderful four day stay at Button Bay. The place was very quiet and the pool area was sublime. We didn't do too much while we stayed at Button Bay, just lounged by the pool, rode bicycles down to Fort Charles Beach and spent one adventurous night on the town with Brent (who works at Button Bay), otherwise this was a place to really chill out. It's not a "high end" resort by any stretch, but I dare you to find a nicer pool and sunset anywhere in Jamaica! Part of the charm of Button Bay is that it oozes character and you don't really want to leave once you get there. The food was okay, nothing spectacular, but you can get a ride into town and eat at Strikie T's or Jack Sprat and arrange a ride back for about five dollars; you'll quickly make other friends in Treasure Beach too, it's such a relaxed place and security is NOT a concern. I would be remiss if I also didn't mention the Button Bay dog Flower, who was by our side the whole four days, slept outside our room, lazed by the pool with us and even accompanied us to Fort Charles Beach for the day. She was a great companion. Being down season, the bar by the ocean wasn't open (we were the only guests for the last three days of our stay) but we had the pool to ourselves every day. If you're looking for an out-of-the-way vacation spot in Jamaica, then Treasure Beach is a great spot, and if you're look for an out-of-the-way spot in Treasure Beach, then I would highly recommend Button Bay.

“Not Negril”

We were on a two week trip to Jamaica and decided to check out the Treasure Beach area for a few days. Button Bay Beach Getaway is by far and away, the most romantic, secluded place I have ever stayed. It is so relaxing, the pool is wonderful, the staff is superb! Downfalls were the distance to the actual town of Treasure Beach; we weren't able to do much exploring or checking out. The hotel arranged a boat trip from Treasure Beach with Capt Ted and his trusty companion Flora. On our way to the Pelican Bar, we spotted DOLPHINS and were lucky enough to get pretty close to them. Brief stop at the Pelican Bar (not open yet) and then up the Black River...REALLY COOL!!! After the Black River, we went back to the Pelican Bar for a few beers and the captain dropped us off back at our hotel. Simply AMAZING. We spent one crazy night in TB but found the locals to be a pleasure to hang with and talk cricket with. We really loved the side trip out of Negril. If you want a place secluded and off the beaten path, STAY HERE!

“A beautiful gem”

This is a wonderful place to stay, nestled on the cliff overlooking the sea with beautiful tropical plants, coloured lights and pretty, rural surroundings.

We stayed in Parrot Villa which was huge and had a very lovely private terrace.

The other guests were friendly and interesting and the owners were real characters -there is a very nice, laid back vibe.

We had a great time.

“Terribly Misleading”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2009

I want to start off by saying that Ms. Gladys has a very nice establishment. However, alot of the amenities advertised was not available during my stay. Before arriving in Jamaica Ms. Gladys and I had corresponded through several emails where she had ample opportunities to inform me of the satellite that was not working. Since my fiance' and I were going to be spending a great deal of time in the room that was one of the reasons I chose Button Bay. They had a dvd and a dvd library so I figured okay we can watch movies right? Wrong! Most of the dvd's did not play in the player or they were foreign films with English sub titles. When I brought this to the attention of Gladys, she acted like she had no idea that the movies didn't play and asked her staff about it and was informed that not all dvd's play in all of the players.

When we arrived it was early evening and we were informed that we could order dinner and have it brought to our room. I was very excited about this. We ordered the snapper and then was informed that it was not available. Okay, minor set back. So we ordered the garlic lobster and steamed butterfish.

I must say first that my fiance' is a Jamaican Yardi and I am of West Indian descent so we are use to good carribbean food. Unfortunately, it was not to be found at Button Bay. I was very disappointed with the food because I had done alot of research and read plenty of reviews and even asked around on the Treasure Beach blog page before making the decision to stay there.

We past on breakfast the next day and then went down the road to Jack Sprat and had the most delicious lunch of Steamed Snapper and Conch Soup. I was not about to try the food again that evening so we brought enough back from Jack Sprat for dinner that night.

I was so disappointed in my stay that Sunday morning we woke up very early and left. I am not giving up on Treasure Beach, but I do not think I will be staying at Button Bay again.
