“Good value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

I arrived in Treasure beach started looking around at the four major hotels in the area. Jakes was nice but no TV. I settled for Sunset Resort Villa after looking at all the rooms in each resort this was without a doubt the best choice. The suites were larger and good views of the ocean. Staff we friendly. Just be advised that there is no night life near by.

To Whom It May Concern:

it is my pleasure to enter comments regarding your establishment. My family and I came to the Sunset Resort Villa at Treasure Beach to attend a birthday party. Our host scheduled several activities for the family to do. As soon as i arrived this facility I immediately cancelled a few of the activities. The pleasing sunrise and the captivating sounds of the ocean were so breath taking and beautiful I decided to just relax and enjoy the view.

The staff greeted me and my family with a warm smile and a kind hello. We ordered food which we found quite tasty and nice. During our week stay my family and I discussed how satisfied were were with the accommodations selected for us.

We are making a point to express our appreciation for the professional service provided to us in an attempt to ensure their efforts do not go unnoticed. We often hear it said that bad news travels fast and good news travels slow. This comment is our attempt to ensure the good news about The Sunset Resort Villa here at Treasure beach spreads.

If a person wants to experience the elegance of a calm pleasant atmosphere this is the place to stay. The staff is warm and proficient. The food is delightful and the suites are well worth the price. The ocean view is heaven sent.

the names of those who provided this excellent service were as follows:

1. Mr. Cory South
2. Ms. Janette South

3. Jodiann
4. Shamara
5. Joyce - What a cook.
6. Melony
7. Velma
8. Lola - Also a good cook

We just spent another 9 days at the Sunset and it just keeps getting better. Four of us stayed in Sunset 1 and 2 and it was like having our own private villa with the best staff in the world. Anything you need you got, just ask. If you want to get away from the hustle in places like Nigril and Mobay this is the place. Treasure Beach is what you dream of when you think Jamaica, laid back, freindly people, great food and pure RELAX. Kory and his crew know how to make it happen! Our last night there we watched as Janet set-up a private table for a couple enjoying their 25th wedding anniversary with the sun going down into the most beautiful sunset and I am sure it made the feel very special. Way2Go Janet and staff, you are the best. If you want the true Jamaica its "here" and we have travelled all over the island. So if you do come nd find out what we know,DON'T TELL ANYONE. Thanks Kory see you soon. Irie. PS, the fishing is great, Thanks Talla.

From the moment you arrive in Treasure Beach you feel like you are home. The people are very friendly, the fishing village is very safe and the food is excellent. And best of all it is a very relaxing place to be. Sunset Resort offers a very reasonable rate, the staff are very friendly and the owners Kory and Janet are always there to help you. Relax by the pool or take a morning trip out fishing with Kory or one of the many local fisherman to catch a tuna or King fish, even Barracuda. You can also make a day trip by boat to Black River with Captain Ted and check out the crocodiles and fascinating eco system of the river and on your way back stop at Floyd's Pelican Bar right out in the ocean to enjoy a nice cold Red Stripe. The suites at Sunset Villa are very comfortable with hot and cold water, air conditioning if you need it and cable TV in case you run into a rainy day. My room overlooked the ocean and always had a beautiful ocean breeze. Another thing to do while in Treasure Beach is to make sure you find Captain Dennis. He provides a beautiful 2 hour trip on the Shallow Bar in calm waters which takes you to Great Bay where you can swim in the warm clear waters or just stay on board and enjoy the music and cold beer with your friends, he also does the Black River tour as well. After your cruise make sure you stop in at Eggy's Beach Bar which is a fun place to gather and watch the fabulous sunsets with friends. Eggy has a very delicious seafood menu and ice cold Red Stripe always on hand. Here you can hang out with the locals or other vacationers and meet new friends. After sunset head back up the road to Kory's Sunset Villa and enjoy a beautiful US grade "A" steak and all the trimmings. It truly is well worth the 2 1/2 hour drive from Montego Bay . Call ahead and Kory can arrange for someone to pick you up at the airport.

Room Tip: All the rooms are very spacious with comfortable king size beds and a single bed in each room. So w...

We were actually staying in Runaway Bay but booked a 3 night mini trip to Treasure Beach.
I had thought about booking Jakes but found this small, intimate hotel and it looked so "nice" I booked it.
Oh wow, did I make the right choice, we had an absolute ball here. It is so much more than nice, it's wonderful.

The view is stunning and the sunsets are just incredible.

We stayed in Black Beauty, one of the rooms right off the pool, brilliant for a dip in the pool before breakfast.
As previously reviewed, the rooms are a good size and have all the facilites you need. I'm sure any room would be perfect, just pick one from the website and book it.

The staff are superb, they cannot do enough for you, including booking trips.

The absolute highlight was the evening of our wedding anniversary. As we approached the restaurant area, romantic music started playing, drinks arrived and both continued throughout our pre-booked meal.

A massive thankyou to Melanie, Janet and Nola. Irie Mon!!!

Again, we have stayed at Kory South's Sunset Resort Villa in Treasure Beach. It has always been great, but this time it surpasses GREAT! The place is wonderful, newly refreshed rooms, coffee makers, TV, CD player, etc....couldn't ask for more. (P.S. got less amenities at a "high-end" hotel in Port Antonio than we did at Sunset Resort.)
The food is always great, the beer very cold and Kory can make special requests for side trips, fishing outings, and more. A first class place with a top-of-the-line Host.
Cheers!!!

Room Tip: Mermaid, jungle, any one fo four sites by the pool or a separate little house/room w/ cooking facili...

We recently spent 5 nights at the Sunset Resort and Villas in Treasure Beach. This was our first trip to Jamaica although we have been to other Carribean countries. We drove from the airport at Montego Bay (Mobay) to Treasure Beach which was an interesting experience. We had driven in 3 other Caribbean countries and were prepared for potholes, lack of signage and narrow roads. Jamaica adds fast driving by local taxis to the mix. However, we arrived just before sunset to a beautiful setting and to a very friendly host.
Our room was spacious with a fairly large separate bathroom and a nice big outside porch that faced the Sea. We unpacked and immediately relaxed. We checked out the very clean pool and the surroundings and talked with a couple of employees. We met Janette who got us situated rather quickly. The sound of the surf helped us get to sleep in a comfortable bed.
We awoke to a cloudy but warm morning and had a Jamaican breakfast. Whenever we travel, we try to eat what is grown and eaten locally. A full breakfast is included in the resort rental and we were quite pleased with the Jamaican offerings. The coffee was especially good and we were told (emphatically) that no instant coffee was served at Sunset.
Sunset Resort and Villas is quite well situated in Treasure Beach for someone who wants to see the countryside. We had a fresh water pool and some beaches and restaurants all within easy walking distance. To someone coming from the frozen north, it was especially delightful to walk in the warm climate and to see beautiful flowers and meet very friendly people. We thought that starting out with a cloudy day was bad but it turned out to be great. We were able to go to the nearby fisherman’s beach and watch fish being unloaded and sold on the shore and not get sunburned.
We used Sunset as the launching point for trips to YS Falls, the Appleton Estate rum factory, Black River and the rest of Treasure Beach. I don’t think we could have better situated to do a lot of things. Even if we had not driven, local taxis were available to take you most anywhere. Car rental and gasoline are expensive so you have to decide if you are going to spend your cash renting a car or hiring taxis. We met people who were doing both.
If you want a high end all inclusive resort, stay away from here. But if you want a vacation in a relaxed Jamaican setting, this is it! Sunset Resort and Villas is clean and well laid out, has a pool, is central to travel, is run by friendly owners and staff and is modestly priced. I can’t imagine we could have chosen better than this.
