“Nice Surprise for the Money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2014

I stayed at the Aloha Sol for one night in October of 2013 and it more than met my needs. Considering the reasonable price and the unspectacular exterior, I was pleasantly surprised. The man at the front desk was very polite and spoke reasonable English. The room was very clean and comfortable, and the staff was very friendly. I also enjoyed the breakfast buffet and its fairly elegant room (restaurant).
It is far from a five star hotel, but I am giving it five stars for more than meeting expectations.
Oh, and, yes, the hot water and air conditioning worked fine....no electrical or plumbing issues.

I stayed at Aloha Hotel in December 2013 with my husband and it was great. I was surprised because it look small from the outside but it's actually big. All The staff was very friendly, the front desk dress nicely and they're very professional. The room staff made up my room perfectly. The concierge is always there to take care of your luggage. They also have people who can do your laundry & press your clothes. The breakfast was varied & very good. I'll recommend this hotel to everybody because they'll make you feel comfortable and secure. I'll be staying there again next time!

The breakfast was great! Unfortunately, we were only able to go down once to twice because we couldn't wake up early enough. Nevertheless, it was delicious; it was even better since it was included with our stay. The rooms were maybe 2.5 stars when compared to other places I've stayed. The people are very friendly, however, and the location is perfect to be able to walk around town, eat, visit the casinos, stores, etc. I enjoyed the city for it's small town feel and great food. If you are hesitant about trying the typical Dominican food, there is a McDonald's 7 minutes away. I also liked that there was a pharmacy near by (as I had to pick up some medicine while visiting) and a bank across the street. This hotel definitely isn't a resort style hotel. If you are visiting Santiago, that's probably not the purpose of your visit to begin with. The rooms do need quite a bit of work, but the overall stay was pleasant. Another con about the property was that the power shut down once you removed the key from the wall. As such once we would come in from walking around town(hot and sweaty), the room would take time to cool down. Also, the water pressure was weird and the water temperature would often change from hot to freezing.

Room Tip: Bring "shower shoes"

This hotel's best days are clearly behind it. It is well-maintained in the lobby area but the rooms are a different story.

The mattress was uncomfortable, pillows nearly flat and the bedspread was so threadbare that the housekeeping staff made the bed with the lining side up.

Our room's air conditioning unit had several rust stains and although adequately cooled the room made quite a racket. Not all rooms were carpeted, ours was and the carpet seemed to be emitting a faintly musty odor. The window completed the "we just unwittingly scouted the perfect location for the next Locked Up Abroad shoot" moment -- it was about 1'x2' square, near the ceiling and protected by bars.

On the plus side there was plenty of hot water, no issues with nighttime/casino noise and the location is smack in the heart of the city. Also the internet was adequate for sending/receiving emails (but not Skype phone calls).

We'd prepaid for three nights and we did briefly consider walking away from the second two nights but as other reviewers have noted there are not many other options in Santiago. We paid $86 USD/night for two people including breakfast and this was hands down the worst overall value hotel stay in my life.

Room Tip: Ask for a non-carpeted room.

Was looking for an inexpensive place to stay in Santiago and as you can read from most reviews this place can be a bit loud at night but bearable.
Its around $75 a night US, in the center of the city.
Rooms are clean, AC works well, Cable included, mini bar for an extra fee.
Overall not too bad

I have been going this hotel forbussines purposes since it opened.
It is not a 5 stars hotel, but location is great and it has a lot of thing around at walking distance, also a parking lot with security.

Santiago city lacks of hotels rooms and this one has growed. Normally i stayed at the main building, there rooms are not so big but ik of overnigth stay. They built a new building and there also a casino and a bar that closes nearby 5 at morning. The noise gets in your room. Be aware to be placed in a room in main building. Very dissapointed with my last stay but i will give them an opportunity and will post.
