After a long drive it was a relief to find the restaurant open at 9am on a Sunday, and it was a surprise to find that Dixie Lee serves breakfast. At the counter I ordered a cheese omelet and found a table. Most of the patrons were wearing hunting attire, and at least one couple was from New York State judging from the license plate of the RV outside. This Dixie Lee functions as a gathering place for the locals and a stop off for tourists.
The cheese omelet was up to the standard and it came with spuds, toast, coffee and a refill all for $7.90. The waitresses were nice, washrooms clean, it had Wi-Fi, and the whole place was kept up. The restaurant is on HWY 60 and in the middle of town and there are some cool railroad artifacts and photo ops across the street.
