“Comfortable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2011

We shared a family room with our 2 sons. There were 2 singles and a double bed which was a nice change to the usual 2 doubles. Room was simple but comfortable. We had a good night's sleep and a pleasant complimentary breakfast. Good value for money.

We spent 3 nights here and it was a very good value. Day trips from this point were very scenic. The hotel while not fancy was clean and quiet, a nice breakfast consisting of coffee, juice, toast, cereal and muffins was available each morning. Staff was courteous and friendly. This is basic hotel, no pool, spa or restaurant, clean rooms and a comfortable bed.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2010

Our booking was based purely on the website and how clean and well presented the lobby and rooms appeared (misleading). When we checked in, the lobby was the size of a postage stamp and our room was much the same. The hallways were dimly lit and in serious need of paint, the walls were scuffed/dirty and the carpets were shabby. Our room itself was marginally clean, we found hair in the tub, sink and on one of our towels. The bedspread was thin and thread bare. The sheets were clean; as was the mattress (we inspected it after the hairs were found), however, we removed the bedspread and used our own pillows and made sure that none of our luggage actually touched the floor of our room. There was a 1-inch wide gap from the bottom of our door to the hallway that was disconcerting. Our room itself was old, in need of paint and a serious bathroom refurbish (the fixtures and tiles were old/stained). There are not a lot of choices for accommodations in Lillooet. In hindsight, we could have done better (with more research), however, it was late in the evening when we arrived and the bed and sheets were clean; the other items were disappointing but livable. The hotel advertised free internet; however, the internet station (small desk/chair located on the 2nd floor) was locked with a sign that said $5/hour. Also, the breakfast that came with the room rate was located in a tiny area under the main stairs. When we took a look there were 3 people having toast and it seemed crowded, we opted to go somewhere else. Overall, if you are traveling on a strict budget (i.e., student or with a family), the rates might appeal, my suggestion is to bring your own duvet and pillows (we used our own pillows). This hotel was disappointing because it was a stark contrast to their website. We were only in town for one overnight so we made due, if our stay would have been for any longer, we would have found another accommodation (perhaps a B&B). PS: I do not think this building had an elevator, so it is not accessible for individuals who cannot easily travel stairs or are in wheelchairs.

Rooms are clean and quiet, continental breakfast was minimal but acceptable. However, it was served in a room that was too small and crowded. Overall our stay was fine, but I will try another hotel the next time through.

We booked Hotel De Oro simply because it looked like our best bet in Lillooet, and we were very surprised! Wasn't expecting much...but WHOLY cow! This place was sooo clean from top to bottom, no dirt in site. The beds were soooooo comfy, it was great having the 2 twins rather than the extra double so the kids got their own bed. The owners were very friendly people. The breakfast was served in the pajama kitchen every morning....it was a funky little kitchen with all the basic food (toast cereal, juice, ect.)...and cinnamon buns! They were so good. Breakfast was a little early during the week, especially since your on vacation, but it was good because it got us up and we saw more that day! I would totally recommend this hotel-clean as could be....and surprisingly modern!

Drive down to the Old Bridge, then go to the Lillooet Musuem and the Myzacki house. All are very close to the hotel and are chalk-full of awesomee history. And while at the musuem....make sure to lock your kids in the portable jail outside and take a picture...it's a hoot in itself :)

The other reviews here are still accurate. This is what you should expect in a small town. Good value for the money, right on the main street, clean and well maintained. If you are used to three-star city hotels, you'll need to hit Reset. A small town's economy pretty much limits its accommodation options unless it takes off as a tourist destination. Restaurants too; the Garden Patch Cafe suited my not-too-hungry needs.

After a day of motorcycling I wanted to be able to walk to a restaurant close by. I chose this hotel, and I'd stay there again. Oh, and there's cold beer two doors down the street.
