Our first stop on a trip from Vancouver to the Rockies. As you approach Lillooet – in our opinion, a much better place to stop than Whistler – you are welcomed by the beautiful Seton Lake on your left. The B&B sits high above the town with a fine view over the valley. Bruce and Mary made us very welcome – they have a relaxed, welcoming approach and we had a really good chat over a glass of Bruce’s home made wine while watching a hummingbird outside. Our bedroom was a good size and clean and the breakfast was very good – it was nice to sit over breakfast with our hosts. They have a dog – we are not keen on animals but this dog was not ‘in your face’ so it didn’t perturb us unduly.
Eating out options are limited in Lillooet – we used Dina’s which was busy and adequate. Bruce and Mary told us lots about the area and encouraged us to go on a wonderful train ride along the lake shore from Lillooet to Seton [and back] – this is operated by ‘first nation’ people who are very friendly and knowledgeable and happy to stop when the driver spotted some wildlife, including a brown bear! This train trip, which is not widely advertised, was one of the many highlights of our trip to Canada.
The B&B price was very reasonable and I would have no hesitation in recommending Miner’s Rest to anyone.
