Have stayed a few times here and the hotel gets better each visit.
The rooms have been renovated with new carpets/furniture,lcd tv ect
Overall the hotel has had a major facelift from the lounge to the dining room and outside.
Food was great ,big tasty breakfast and great maincourses/desserts.
Hotel now has wirless access also.
A lift has also been installed.
All round a major improvment and i would have no hesitation in returning or recommending to others.

This hotel is situated in one of the most scenic areas in Scotland overlooking the sands of Morar beach. Our room had a superb view but that was it.

Their web site advertises a a warm welcome with true highland hospitality. When we arrived late afternoon after a 4 hour drive we were asked to settle our bill, and asked if we wanted to book for dinner.

There were no snacks available, no bar meals, and in fact no bars although these are advertised on the web site. Tea and coffee facilities were in the room but that was it.

When we asked about bar meals later in the evening we were told that the public bar was now permanently closed and our only eating choice was a 3 dinner costing £22.50. There was no option of having 1 course or two courses although they are priced individually on the menu. We ate elsewhere.!

We had visited this hotel many times in the past and enjoyed true highland hospitality, meeting with the local people in the bar and choosing when, where and what we wanted to eat.

The scenery is still there in Morar but it's only hotel does not live up to it's surroundings or the people who live there.

We stayed at the Morar Hotel for two nights in September. First things first, the hotel is very convenient for the Mallaig train from Fort William or Glasgow, literally just across the road. The room was clean and equipped as promised, en-suite, TV, beautiful sea view. To be honest though it just didn't live up to the £110 per night charge. The bed was small, the bed linen looked like it ahd seen better days, the room was small, the bathroom was clean but didn't have anywhere to hang our towels. We ate in the restaurant on one night and our food was pretty good, we stuck to locally sourced fish/seafood and were rewarded for this. Other guests were less happy with their food and could be seen complaining. Our breakfast the next morning was edible but could have been better. It was all a bit 'thrown together'. Once again, not what I have come to expect when paying £110 for a room. The bar area was very small and didn't seem to make the best use of the space available. Overall I just wanted to take control of this place and make it the tranquil retreat it should be, dreams eh!?

As an extra, we can recommend the Fish Market restaurant in Mallaig for no nonsense, great priced, local seafood, fantastic!

Also, Cycles 2 U provided us with great service, bikes were delivered and collected from the hotel by a very friendly Allan.

Wow what a beautiful place to be in it is like paradise up at this hotel!! Our room was very clean, fantastic sea view, bathroom spotless the management couldn't do enough for us, nothing was a problem.
the restuarant is gorgeous with stunning sea views, the food was outstanding considering the only chef they have is a 20 year old guy who takes his career very seriously & this shows big time!! we spoke to the chef, his family should be very proud of him & so should the owners of the hotel, he is very polite & down to earth & nothing was a problem. I did not like the sauce on the main course i ordered but Murray the chef soon got something sorted out with no hassle at all. we will be back soon for a longer stay & I pray that they still have Murray there & we were not alone in complimenting this young guy on his work, presentation of the food - - perfect!! would recommend this hotel, perfect for the romantic getaway!!

“A faded hotel that charges to much, without any dramatic wrongdoings.”

One of the many sad, old, slightly smelly and quite badly run hotels you see in the regions. Stayed here in early July and the place was pretty empty, it's not hard to see why.

Location- It's an amazing spot near some of the most amazing beaches I have ever seen.

Bedrooms- Nothing outrageously bad, but for £100 for a double you expect an awful lot more. The decor is faded, the bathroom has some mould, the room was large, but the overall look reminded me of cheap hotels 15 years ago - come on , a 14'' tv, with no remote, with poor reception is a pretty poor offering.

Dining Hall- Felt like a Romanian Orphanage’s gym- very sad indeed.

Food- Only had breakfast, served promptly, with pleasant but forlorn service.

Service- manageress seemed perfectly pleasant, but had little to deal with.

Overall- It’s a very poor deal, but the location is fab, I did not complain as nothing by itself was overtly bad- but this is not a place to feel happy about paying £100. I see no reason for anyone to stay here- although who knows, Mallaig does not look like it would offer anything substantially better.
