“Good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

This establishment was very clean and updated. The single room is small but adequate and again, very clean. The shower was the best I've ever had........most unbelievable water pressure I've ever experienced. I'd almost consider going back just of the shower. It is above a pub and we stayed on a Saturday night. Not ideal if you need to sleep and the house band played until late. They did warn us so I can't really complain.

Just a cracking pub and restaurant with great staff who were friendly and helpful. Food was excellent in the restaurant. Fish straight out the water. Busy but the service was quick and professional. Bedrooms comfortable and clean. Great spot and a good find. Handy for both the pier and the railway station.

I didn't expect much for the price this Inn charges (everything else was full) and had a very pleasant surprise. My room was a very small single but conveniently arranged with everything I needed, and VERY clean. The bedding was a pristine white duvet, and the bathroom had a large sparkling glass shower. The inn served the best scallops I have ever eaten. It's patronized by locals, is quiet, friendly, and if you luck out you can grab a table by the fireplace. The best part is the staff: they leave you alone but are instantly there if you need them. Best wishes everybody at Steam Inn from a visiting Californian.

This is our 3rd meal here and yet again a delicious meal it was.Scallops to start were wonderful&not overcooked which can easily be done.Bonnie Prince Charlie Chicken as my main was moist&haggis tasteful, only annoyance is why put salad next to a sauce?Hubby had Chicken&Mushroom Linguine, which was delicious and plentiful. All in all great food, reasonably priced, service was good, dining area needs attention but cosy fire was welcoming.

Great wee room with all the facilities that one would need. Good modern shower room. At £25 per night this was exceptional value. Can recommend as warm cosy establishment for short stays over the winter!

Was in Mallaig working and stayed here for a week. Everything was spot on. The Bar Staff were very friendly. The Bar meals were excellent and reasonably priced. My single room with en-suite was just what I needed . The room was spotless and the bed very comfy. All for £25 a night. Would definately recommend it to workers or holidaymakers. Plus it is open all year round whilst others shut down in Winter

Myself and a colleague had a business ttrip to Skye and stayed here as it was the only room available - it was very cheap at £25 per night for a single room £40 double - the hotel looked ok but when being led up to our room it was a bit neglected looking however once we were shown into the room it was spotlessly clean - fresh white linen very comfy bed - although no breakfast provided there were breakfast cereals in the room with a small fridge containing two pints fresh milk - amazing.
The shower and toilet looked brand new as if it had never been used and again was spotless. There were countless numbers of sachets with hot chocoloate coffee tea etc. not just two per room.
there was a dressing table with plenty mirrors around the room+ flat screen tv - perfect!!
We ate in the restaurant and meal was also of a very high standard and excellent value.
the staff were friendly and helpful - we are really puzzled as to why this hotel is not fully utilised and the only reason we came up with is it maybe because its above a pub? Noise may be an issue but we did not have a distrubed night in fact slept really well ................I can definitely recommedn this hotel and will be back asap...........

Room Tip: All rooms good
