“Hidden Scottish Gem !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

We stayed here for two nights to attend a weddding in the area. From the minute we stepped in the door we were made to feel very welcome. Our room was spacious tastefully decorated, well serviced and warm with a comfortable double bed.The bathroom was also warm with lovely toiletries and white fluffy towels. The restaurant food was good, the breakfasts were brilliant, cooked to order with lot's of choice, the porridge was lovely, hot and served with cream !This lovely old manse is a hidden gem nestling in the village of Kemnay.I have no reservations about recommending this lodge to other travellers.

Room Tip: Our Room was on second floor overlooking the garden

One of the problems with Tripadvisor is matching expectation with reality. Other reviewers have given 5 stars which is incomprehensible considering the limited facilities on offer. But the hotel is perfectly fine for a short visit.
We stayed for two nights recently while attending a wedding at Thainstone House Hotel (What a shocker Thainstone is, zero stars!).
The room was fine, although the bed was very hard and the TV and bathroom were both very small. We ate at the Lodge on one night and the food was good.Overall the value for money was very good. I would recommend the Lodge for a 1 or 2 night stay. If staying longer I would personally choose somewhere with more ammenities.

We stayed for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay rooms were basic but comfortable, the beds were very comfortable. The tv in the room was a bit small and the wifi a bit hit and miss. The food was very nice and the staff could not do enough for us breakfast was whenever we got up and we had a huge choice the bar and restaurant food was also very good and we enjoyed dinner and lunch here. The bar was cosy with coupes but no residence bar. We were attending a wedding nearby and this was convenient to Inverurie and Aberdeen

We stayed overnight at the end of October 2012. We were attending a function nearby and this hotel was very convenient. It was excellent value. The room we were allocated was spacious and well appointed. The staff were friendly and helpful and created an excellent and warm atmosphere. Breakfast was first class. Balancing value for money with service – The Bennachie Lodge is great and to be recommended.

We 3 had a wonderful night at the Bennachie. The room was perfect, enough room for the three of us to chat after dinner.
The dinner was lovely, we shared the haggis balls for starter, followed by chicken covered with haggis and a gorgeous creme brulee.
Whiskey to follow.
Great start to our week, near to Aberdeen airport, easy to get to and very near Craigievar Castle.

...a lovely stay at that, just a relaxed and friendly place to stay which is comfortable and tastefully decorated and not to mention in a beautiful part of the world.
You don't tend to look for faults when you get that general feeling of well being and hospitality because this place is good.

Spent a weekend visiting the National Trust Properties in the area and this proved an ideal base.

Pros - Excellent friendly staff, clean comfortable and well furnished room with fantastic shower. Lively restaurant both evenings with comprehensive menu at reasonable prices. Located in a nice area and lots of space in the car park.

Cons - Service in the restaurant was a little slow but that was because it was full both nights. Why ? - because the food is great and the locals know it too !

Tip - Book an evening meal, as there are no real alternatives in the village.

Overall - This is a really nice Hotel which the new owners have refurbished and are continuing to improve. It is comfortable, the staff are delightful, the food is good and you come away feeling your cash has been well spent. If you have a reason to stay in the area and prefer smaller Hotels with atmosphere, this is the place to stay.
