“'A master class experience in hospitality'”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

Laurel Villa is hospitality and comfort at its best...more than that..... its an 'excellent' place to stay. Gerardine and Eugene know how to look after people and probably set 'the standard' in the area.

The breakfast was just 'mouthwatering' and reaches a 5* hotel which Laura Villa isn't !

If you are looking for something authentic this is the place to stay....but I'd suggest booking in advance not to be disappointed.

I stayed here, along with the rest of my wedding, the night before my marriage. Geraldine & Eugene could not have been better hosts if they had tried. They looked after us superbyly, even down to cooking another (delicious) breakfast for a friend who arrived on the morning of the wedding, even though he wasn't actually staying there.

The decor is eccentric, but charming; cosy, comfortable and with plenty of nods to the local area, including is most famous son, Seaums Heaney. Whilst this isn't a five-star hotel, the attitude to service beats most places that claim five stars. Geraldine & Eugene's approach can be highlighted by the fact that they even sent us a wedding present, a framed copy of a Heaney poem which, by chance, we had actually included in our wedding service.

Delightful.

We had a delightful time at Laurel Villa. Geradine and Eugene were excellent hosts and a great source of knowledge about Irish poets and the local area. The rooms were extremely comfortable, warm and beautifully decorated. As many other guests have noted, the breakfast was exceptional. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Laurel Villa to others and we hope to return ourselves one day. Beverly and Brendan, Sydney, Australia

I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your home at the weekend. Very comfortable bed and a beautiful home. I stay in many hotels and can honestly say it made my top 3. Why? Comfortable. Warm welcome. Relaxed, ease and hospitality. Good vfm. Plus a glimpse into a world that will not be seen so often in the future, without ever feeling that I stayed in a museum.

Your home is special; and difficult to re-create, were it not original, eclectic and an extension of your good selves.

See you again spoon - and thank you.

As Irish people, we feel that Gerardine and Eugene are doing a great service to Seamus Heaney's birthplace in co. Derry by promoting his work and that of the Irish poets in the way they have represented the individual bedrooms. The house dates from the late 1800 's and is beautifully maintained yet with modern comforts. We enjoyed a leisurely Ulster breakfast with the best of food and service. The fresh fruit salad was particularly good. Gerardine and Eugene gave us a great welcome and were endlessly helpful.

Well after a second visit to Laurel Villa, we were not disppointed.

From the moment you arrive you are made to feel so welcome and nothing is too much to ask of Geraradine and Eugene.

The location is excellent, so central for everything, the village has lots of shops, bars and resturants ( can highly recommend Church Street Resturant)
The rooms are lovely and homely with all tea and coffee you can drink.

Breakfast..... well, what can I say 'simply the best ever'!! from the warm wheaten bread and the lightest warm scones you will ever have, to the perfectly cooked full fry!!
The choice is yours..... but have it all, you won't be disappointed!!

10/10 - five stars - whatever! its the best!!
