“Very Good Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

Went on Sat 1st June with my wife and daughter. I had the Trout masala, my wife had a dish that was advertised for a person who could not make up their mind(small portions of lamb chicken and prawns with rice, . Our daughter had a Chicken Dansak. We all agreed that the food was excellent. A point worth noting is that we were not hurried in to easting as quickly as possible to get us out of the door to use the table again.

“Great food, lovely service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013 via mobile

Like other recent reviewers we were in two minds about visiting Cumin Black owing to some less than positive Trip Advisor reviews. We went, and were delighted. The food was great: onion bhajis and chicken chat to start, then a mix of 3 different curries (labelled 'for the undecided' on the menu) for my partner and a fish curry for me. Portions were extremely generous and we didn't really need the side of saag bhaji we had ordered. The staff could not have been more pleasant or helpful throughout and offered to box up our remaining food to take away. Speed of service was also excellent, with our starters arriving promptly and just the right amount of time before our mains. We are regular visitors to other similar restaurants in the area and rate this one highly in comparison.

“Only very good?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

Slightly concerned by some of the curmudgeonly comments of early diners/takeaway buyers we decided to try the restaurant anyway.
What a pleasant surprise!
Warm welcome ,attentive friendly staff, good - why have I only given it very good?

“Impressed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

We booked a table for 7.00pm on a Friday evening and, to be honest, were disappointed that there were only another two tables taken at that time as we like busy restaurants (better ambience). By 7.45pm though most of the other tables were full so the atmosphere was better. The food was beautiful, fish starter and a chicken chaat, followed by a chicken dopiaza and chicken balti with rice etc. We couldn't fault any of it - plates were nice and warm, we were asked if we wanted the mains bringing straight away or if we wanted a breather (which we like), we'd both chosed medium strength curries and they were (left a nice tingle on the lips but you could taste all the ingredients and the flavour). The staff were very friendly and helpful.
We had a takeaway from there again the following week and that was delicious too.
Would definitely recommend.

“The worst service I have ever had!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013 via mobile

Table booked for 7:30pm and by 9pm we had still not had our starters. They arrived about 5 mins later and to be honest they tasted pretty good. We then waited until after 10pm and still no main courses. Two of my friends had to be elsewhere at 10:30pm so we called the waiter over for the 4th time... He said that we could take the ordered food away as a takeaway and then presented us with the full bill!!! After some discussion we paid half but the evening was ruined!
