“Food Fantastic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2011

If you like good food and a nice pint of Thatchers gold then this will do you fine, the rooms are small and dated but they are clean, the staff are fantastic cannot do enough for you, the breakfast is very good lots of choice and it is quite big enough to set you up for the day, parking is not good a couple of people when we were there had there cars scratched from other peoples doors, we got our room for £65.00 but i heard if you haggle you do get a better price, my sister got the honey moon sweet for £90 for a Saturday and Sunday night this also has a balcony and was much larger than our room, the food they serve is very good quality and we will be going back here just for meals.

stayed for 1 night 28/08/11
food was very good and the rooms were very comfortable
only downfall was the picture dome next door,it was very noisy due to the thin walls of the venue.concerts go on until the early hours, so i would check before going again to find out if theres any on.

Room Tip: premier room is next to concert hall, ask for a rear facing room if you want peace and quiet

This place is amazing! Stayed in the executive suite, hugh bed in a lovely room overlooking the river nidd. The hotel staff are so friendly that cannot do enough for you.
The steaks and mixed grill in the restaurant are to die for ( melt in your mouth) the breakfast the following day was fabulous.
We will defnetly be returning.

On the up side, we had the one and only executive suite, which was nicely decorated, and the room was large and comfortable. The problems started when we used the bathroom, as the water just would not run away from either the bath or the wash basin! When cleaning our teeth we found that the basin would fill with approximately 4 inches of water, some of which was still retained in the basin 15 minutes later. After showering the bath took up to 25 minutes to empty. Thank goodness neither of us decided to have a bath - we'd have been waiting forever! The common parts of the hotel were very grubby and could do with sprucing up.

We had both lunch and breakfast in the restaurant. The breakfast was large but didn't really taste of much, the sausage could only be described as strange and the eggs were overcooked. Disappointingly, we were only offered one cup of tea. As far as lunch was concerned, we had roast beef and on the plus side, the portions were very large and the food could best be described as pub grub. The waiter spilled water all over the table during lunch.

On checking out we mentioned that problems we had experienced with the plumbing, were politely thanked for letting them know - they would call a plumber, but offered no recompense for the inconvenience.

We are sorry that this guest did not fully enjoy their stay and we would like to thank them for pointing out the problem with the sink/bath. Once Sam, our assistant manger, was informed of the problem by the guest at check out the next morning, we were able to have the problem sorted within a couple of minutes. Unfortunately, it is not always possible to know of a maintenance problem until the guest makes us aware. We will always endeavor to rectify any problem as soon as we are notified.

It’s a shame that the sausages were not to the guest’s liking, they are supplied from our local village butcher who sources the meat from local farmers. We have often been complimented on their fabulous taste and quality.

However, we would like to thank this guest for pointing out our weaknesses as this helps us to improve going forward

From the moment of our arrival, we found every member of staff to be friendly and helpful. We had the room at the front with the balcony, it was small but clean and fresh. It was quite noisy being over the bar and with the smokers outside but by midnight all was quiet and a good night's sleep was had.
The food was good and plentiful but we had to eat in the bar as the restaurant wasn't being used, they were quite busy for a Sunday night.
My only complaint was that there wasn't a chain on the bath plug and we coudn't empty the bath until morning, when we finally found something strong enough to hook it out.
Parking is limited, once you find a space, explore the town on foot.

Beautiful location in a lovely village.

Stayed for 2 night and enjoyed every minute.

Staff were extremely helpful. Food was of good quality and bed comfortable.

My only criticism is how small the rooms are, although that is to be expected of a building of it's age.

Would def stay again.

Stayed here on a business trip but what a find! The hotel was lovely, great staff, good food with an extensive menu and frequented by locals to eat which is always a good sign. I had the superior double room which was a little small if 2 stayed but it had a huge on-suite and its own balcony which was amazing in July on a hot summers evening (yes we had one!!) Breakfast was equally as good and cooked to order. Yes I will be back and it will be soon I hope.
