“Excellent for tapas or just drinks”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

This restaurant is outstanding. They have a wide selection of different drinks and the tapas menu is updated regularly. Worth a visit.

“Will go back”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

Very nicely done out pub, either tapas in the bar or sit down in two rooms used as the restaurant.
Service was good and the food was very good, my only complaint as with any restaurant is that they charge for side dishes, all the main courses do not come with veg or potato's which I always think is taking the p1ss.
Charge another £2 per main course and provide the veg, but overall very good and will keep going back

Thank you for your comments from your recent visit to the Toad and Tatie.

We have looked at including vegetables and potatoes with our dishes, but guests preference has pushed us to stick to offering sides, as guests like the option of being able to choose what they would like with their meal.

We hope to see you again soon down here at the Toad and Tatie.

“Outstanding!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012 via mobile

Went here on a whim after looking at the menu previously when it only really sold tapas and decided against it. A friend then recommended it again and we decided to go for dinner. So glad we did! Food was amazing! We both had starters mussels and beef stir fry both of which were gorgeous. We then both had steak, best steak we've had in a long long time! Great cosy atmosphere, quite expensive but 100% worth it! Would recommend to anyone!

Thank you for this outstanding review - we are so pleased with your comments.

We have always run the a la carte menu and specials boards in our dining rooms and then our tapas is available in our bar area. It's amazing how many people come in and don't realise that we offer an a la carte menu.

We hope to see you again in the near future at the Toad and Tatie.

“Good food, nice (busy) ambience, enthusiatic service.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

We chose this restaurant for a special occasion because it is close to home (no pun intended) and we were so impressed by the lengths the patron had gone to to respond courteously and respectfully to the few criticisms aired on this website. It's hard to understand why not all managements do the same, often either leaving criticisms unanswered or worse still contradicting them!
A lot of time and effort have clearly gone in to designing this attractive modern restaurant, located in a lovely stone building on the edge of Holmfirth. Everything has been done in good taste, the menu and wine-list are first class, the entire place exuded quality and the clientele were a nice cheeful mix. The staff were plentiful so service was prompt; the young waiters (m and f) were largely of the friendly/professional school, which is fine, but they must remember that however busy they are their guests will not want their conversations brusquely interrupted. A pause on arriving at the table, followed by a brief and tactful (even apologetic?) interruption, is usually enough to elicit a positive response. No time for role-play here, but they can probably see what I'm getting at. Obviously the food, once it arrives, has to be placed on the table pretty quickly but even here there's room for discretion. Now, the trouble with reviews is that they encourage one to find fault. I hope I've made it clear that this is a very minor carp and that my family had a really enjoyable experience at the TnT. We shall certainly go again, possibly regularly, if only to show our appreciation to the patronne for dashing down the road after us to return a camera which one of us had left behind. She could so easily have put it "behind the bar" and wait for us to discover the loss when we got home, contact the restaurant then make another journey. Thank you again for this kindness.
(If anyone thinks 'patronne' is either pompous or condescending then I'd welcome alternative suggestions!)

we loved the fish and tagine, the place is very nice, but awful heavy rock music was rather off putting, it was loud as well!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for us on trip advisor - I'm pleased to hear that you liked our food.

Our music system plays tracks at random, we try to make sure that the selection is appropriate for our restaurant environment, but sometimes the odd track slips through. We do try to pick up on this and change the music, but occasionally while busy, we may miss it. We have recently updated our music library and this shouldn't happen again.

I hope you will visit us in the future and accept my apologies for the music that was played during your visit. If you do visit us again and you find the music is too loud, please let a member of our team know and we can turn down the speakers accordingly.
