Booked a vineyard tour and afternoon tea through a Groupon offer. Six of us had an enjoyable afternoon, the staff were great

“What a waste of time and money!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014

I was eagerly anticipating this visit and when there eagerly anticipating departure time. What a load of rubbish this is. The marketing people who have hyped this experience up should win the industry award, the vineyard is very poor quality along with the customer service skills of the proprietors staff. The wine is also pretty rough, ok for a casserole but not really for drinking, food also poor quality. On the whole a miserable day out, avoid making the same mistake and try somewhere else.

“Surreal experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014

We called in half way round a 6 mile Sunday morning family walk. It's a very smart, modern place with a high class interior clearly aimed at the beautiful rich people of the Holme Valley. We turned up with hiking boots, rucksack, a 13 year old and a 9 year old and I think it was the first time they'd seen any ramblers, which is surprising given their rural location on a hill side surrounded by wonderful walking country.
We were greeted by a very enthusiastic, larger than life chap behind the bar but his inquiry as to what he could do for us felt like he was hoping we were just calling in for directions and would come no further in to his beautiful establishment.
We convinced him that all we wanted was coffee and cake and reassured him that we would be out by 12.00, " as they were fully booked " - it was 10.51 !
The cake was excellent, the views are breathtaking but the coffee was too weak for me.
It was a bit surreal. They are trying to establish a sophisticated eatery and yet the head of affairs on this particular morning appeared to be a farm hand ( even in wellies ) standing in for someone else !

“Well worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2014

Was given this as a Mother's day present and really enjoyed it. The vineyard is set high above Holmfirth and we had to drive up some steep narrow lanes to get there but it was well worth the drive. The restaurant has large panoramic windows looking over the vines that are on a south facing slope. We were told about the making of the wine and given a taster of some of them. They were very different to what we are used to and we found them really enjoyable. Then we had a lovely lunch that was obviously chef prepared followed by a delicious piece of cake. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable.
All together a very enjoyable experience and a bottle of wine to enjoy later.

“A GREAT TIME”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2014

We had the tour and lunch option bought us as a Christmas present, and what a present it turned out to be. The tour had to be altered, for the day we arrived the heavens opened and the tour round the vines was called off, these could still be seen from the panoramic windows of the restaurant and it did not spoil the tour. Our very friendly guide explained the situation and was very sorry about the weather, but he made the rest of the tour very informative and amusing. The wine tasting was very good and give you a real insight into the way wine was made. The meal that followed was excellent, so was the choice, a bottle of free wine to take home was the icing on the cake. Well worth taking the time to go on this tour you will be surprised by the quality and thought that has gone into this venture.
