“Just keeps getting better”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

We have been a few times now and each experience is better than the last. My husband is a big fan of the gentleman's afternoon tea, every time it has something different on it. I this time had the afternoon tea, wonderful, I am personally not a fan of egg mayonnaise and asked for an alternative, no problems at all. keep up the good work !! We will definitely be back.

“Afternoon tea”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013 via mobile

We visited the Spiced Pear for afternoon tea one wet Monday afternoon in August. As fans of the Butchers Arms, our expectations were high. Certainly the location of the Spiced Pear with its lovely rural views and it new decor were very promising. The tea room itself was very comfortable and welcoming as were the staff, although it did take the waitress almost 5 minutes to realise that we were waiting for a table. However, once sat we enjoyed fresh, warm and crumbly scones, a large pot of Yorkshire tea and cream. However, I was disappointed that the jam wasn't either local or home-made - which was a shame given SP prides itself on using local produce. We rounded off the afternoon with cocktails (Mules) which really hit the spot. It was a nice way to while away an hour or so. Now looking forward to trying the restaurant shortly.

“Excellent all round dining experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2013

With the impending birth of our first child my husband and I took the opportunity to go somewhere nice for lunch on a Friday afternoon. We decided on The Spiced Pear as we had heard good things about it and hadn't been up since it had changed hands. We were warmly greeted by the staff and had a seat in the bar where our drinks order was taken and menus given to look over. We had a choice from the A La Carte or Yorkshire Menu. We decided on the Yorkshire menu which offered 2 courses for £13 or 3 courses for £16.

We were promptly shown to our seats in the main dining room which was clean and crisp in décor and had a lovely feel to the room. There were about 5 other tables dining so was a good balance of quiet chat and music in the background. The small open kitchen put you right in view of the chefs working on our dishes.

We had 3 courses and each dish was delightful. You could definitely tell how fresh the ingredients were and each dish was beautifully presented. The waiting staff were very attentive but not intrusive which made the whole dining experience special.

We will definitely be going back for an evening meal and have already booked in for afternoon tea with the girls.

“Very good restaurant/ bar.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

Had the Yorkshire Menu which proved good value at £13 for 2 courses & £16 per person for 3 courses. The restaurant and bar were both really stylish and clean. You could tell the chef took great pride in the food that was served. Would definitely go again.

“Excellent Food !!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

My wife and I have just had an evening meal at the Spiced Pear in Hepworth and its was excellent (all three courses) from strat to finish. We were keen to try the Spiced Pear and having waited a few months while until the new owners have had some time to settle in, we have to say, it was very much worth the wait ! The presentation of the food, quality and taste were faultless.

Well done to all the team !

Looking forward to our next visit already.
