“A excellent break away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013

Me, my partner and our little girl came to Wookey Hole hotel for a weekend break and it was definitely money well spent. We arrived late on the Friday as traffic was bad and the gentleman on reception couldn't of been more helpful. The room and en-suite was spotless (the cleaners deserve a big thumbs up) as hygiene is a big issue to me. The Saturday we purchased tickets to the Wookey Caves and we had a fab day, strolling around at our own leisure... there is certainly enough to do there! On the Saturday night we ate in the hotels restaurant and for the price of the food it was very good, and quick service which is great with an impatient child, and partner! Over all for the money paid it is a great getaway. Greatly recommended :)

Room Tip: We stayed in a standard family room (number 52) over looked the carpark but had further country view...

2 Adults 1 Child stayed for 3 days, funny i read reviews before staying (wife does not as she says it puts you in wrong mindset) and again just now having stayed in May 2013 - fantastic stay , the room was clean and tidy and made for us, the resturant is family friendly which i feel is missing the point on some of the negative comments i have read on here - it does somewhat erk me when i read comments by others who have so obviusly put them in *because they can* The offer of services was far above what the price being charged - in fact to compare it to a main stream hotel chain (i am sat in one now through work and am looking around the sparse room having drunk my 4 cartons of uht and with nothing to watch on the tv and admiring the large amount of purple i see) i believe to be both untrue and unfair on the Wookey hole hotel.

Would totally recomend this hotel not only to families but to anyone wanting a decent comfy night stay with more than you would expect facilities - so from me and my family - Thanks you Wookey Hole Hotel we WILL be back.

Wookey Hole Hotel is well placed for visiting the Somerset attractions. It is a standard travellers Hotel with large well appointed rooms. It is characterless except for the 'Witch' that greets you as you enter reception.

The bar is fine, the food looked good and the staff were pleasant enough. The Room Only price was acceptable for the location. It is basically a Motel set in the beautiful valley that claims the Wookey Hole tourist attraction.

I stayed with three other aging cyclists mainly because it was large enough to house the four of us in separate rooms. Unfortunately there are no facilities for cyclists and from the surprise shown by the, very nice, receptionist little demand. We left our cycles round the back by the staff smoking hut. Perhaps is they were more cycle aware they would benefit.

We decide to take our little boy to the cave for a day out which was great best cave ever.
As for the hotel very clean because new 2 year. The room was a good size and suitable.
As for the food bistro what a load of rubbish just poor to say the least. Wish I went across the road great pub.
The breakfast was extra at £8
Rip off
Apart from the food all is good and worth a visit
Great cheese from the caves

We only stayed one night on our way to Washford and this hotel was a great find.

We arrived at around 1.30am which was no problem as they have a 24 hour reception. The room was really clean a tidy and had everything we needed for out short stay. Breakfast the next day was a bit sparse (we have continental) but adequate.

We would definitely stay there again.

We stayed last year for a treat for our girls. It started good, nice room and good food, then bang!!! We had a room above reception and all you would hear is bang, bang as the door opened and closed all night. There was a wedding happening the following day so some of the guest were staying . Towards midnight there was a huge argument happening in the car park just below are room. We shouted and they went in. It then carried on under our room. With two young children with us we did our best to try and stop them hearing he colourful language that was coming from below. In the end my husband went down to he room. The night man called the manager ho seemed to be a little nervous of how events were panning out. He did that if they carried on he would ask them to leave, which he didn't! The following morning we went to complain again with very little success BUT we did get a complementary upgrade breakfast from cold to hot saving us about a £5.00. Big deal considering the price of the room, lack of sleep and not to mention the new 4 letter word that our 3 & 8 year olds now know.

We then went round the attraction quickly as we couldn't wait o leave. A complete let down in all areas.

Staff were almost scared of help.
Tacky caves with too much witch rubbish.
Expensive food in the little cafe and full of grease.

We did get some of our money back, but not with out a few phone calls.

Room Tip: Ask for one way away from the reception doors.
