I hesitate to say that this is a typical castle ruin as it is so much more than that. The childhood home and favorite abode of Richard III, this castle reeks of history. For a ruin, much of the castle remains with plenty of rooms, stairs and a tower for climbing. There are informative display boards dispersed throughout the site. Situated in town, street parking is free immediately outside the gate. There are no toilets on the site and food is available only through vending machines. However, as the castle is in the town, plenty of facilities are available not more than 100 meters from the castle entry. For any history buff, this is a must see.
