Visited today with my 6 year old, we were with a school group. The castle is asthetically pleasing and a large proportion of it is opening for viewing. The surrounding views are amazing. We had a dedicated guide, master David, who I can not praise enough for his manner with the children. The guide was very informative and yet informal, the children were allowed to roam and explore and interact with the environment, and the outfits we were provided with really helped to set the scene.
I would definatly visit again, at £25 for a family ticket, I feel that price is reasonable, however I feel to make the most of your visit you should visit on one of the event weekends, which have additional activities.
not many really, £1.20 for a snickers bar in the coffee shop was a bit steep, maybe overpriced, so take your own food.
Would not advice families with toddlers, pushchairs and wheelchairs not suitable to this environment, due to cobbles and lots of steep narrow steps.
Castle gardenys were very basic and I did not see any outside picnic areas, which is a shame.
Overall I would recommend.
