“Third Sunday Visit (Cafe)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

This cafe has the politest staff I think I have ever come across, not just one member of staff but everyone. The views from the cafe window are stunning as is the drive into the village. Relax and feel how calm the place is its just like stepping back in time.

As the title says this is my third visit on a Sunday in a row and that must speak volumns but there is one big issue for me. I love coffee and each time I call the machine is broken and although the filter coffee is very good in term of flavour the coffee is always luke warm. Please get this fixed because otherwise everything else is great. The bacon sandwiches are excellent and the cakes a real treat

This really is a special place to visit

“An Amazing Historical Site”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013

I'm just wondering what would have remained of this site if Henry VIII had not changed the faith.

One of English Heritage's best and well maintained sites and well worth a visit what ever the weather.

“A welcome stop on a snowy walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

We were completing the Cleveland Way between Sutton Bank and Helmsley on a very snowy January day and decided to take the slight detour to Rievaulx - we were so glad that we did! Not only were we welcomed most warmly and in spite of problems with the gas supple, supplied with bowls of excellent hot soup in the cafe, but were the only visitors to the abbey. The paths were not all accessible because of the snow, but the experience of walking aound the abbey in the snowy silence was unforgettable.

“even in the wet and wind was worth the tour!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

This gem out in the country side is nestled in the hills outside of Helmsley, near the North Yorkshire Moors. We went on a very wet, winter day, but was still worth the trek. Great indoor section showing how the Abbey started small and grew in stature and numbers working and living and worhipping their. You can have a nice walk in the area as well. Then onwards to Helmsley.

“The most beautiful place on earth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013 via mobile

Set in a valley to beauty that surrounds this attraction is astounding. We actually stayed in the English heritage cottage attached to the abbey. Having visited many abbeys this is by far the most stunning
