“Pretty accommodation in an idyllic setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

Three couples shared the Granary, a cleverly converted barn with flexible accommodation for 4 or 6, for a fabulous week's holiday in continuous glorious sunshine. Holiday properties with three en-suite bedrooms on the North Yorkshire Moors are difficult to find and Laskill Grange offers good sized bedrooms, all charmingly presented. The two sofas in the living area are perhaps more suited for 4 than 6 adults and the dining table needed to be moved to fit 6 around it. However, the weather was so good we ate breakfast and dinner outdoors on the private west facing patio, which enjoys the sun until early evening. A permanent barbeque would have been a real bonus.

The friendliness and helpfulness of owner Sue and assistant Anita made our stay very special. Sue's daughter Mandy runs the adjacent Laskill Country House and provided a wonderful pre-booked dinner in the hotel for us one evening. We ate around a large dining table with other guests and non-residents; conversation flowed and the food was delicious. Thoroughly recommended.

Laskill Grange is situation in an idyllic rural setting yet easily accessible for a wealth of sights, experiences and activities, whatever your interests. This part of North Yorkshire is not so well known as the Dales and is not to be missed - a real gem!

We have just had a great week away here, Sue and her staff were very helpful and eager to make your stay the best it could be.
We took our Dog with us and they were incredibly welcoming with her - treating her just as good as what they did with us..
We stayed in the coach house which you couldn't fault everything you need and really well equipped. We had our own private garden which was great for the dog allowing her to potter about outside on her own. We were really pleased to discover the hot tub which was a bonus on a hot afternoon and a nice suntrap.
Location wise only 6 miles into Helmsley (you must try the award winning fish and chip restaurant and Italian next door) some nice places nearby for dog walking and the English heritage places and Duncombe Park we visited allowed you to take your dog.
If you want a rural location away from everyday life this is your place! No phone or internet signal but hey its a country retreat, Worth The sacrifice. absolutely great to shut off from the everyday world.

Although you are in the middle of nowhere a quick car journey and you will come across so many places.

Its a picturesque and beautiful place that we will always have brilliant and fond memories of.

Go Visit Laskhill Grange!!!

The Forge was a lovely cottage and once I had been given an electric heater for the en suite bedroom was very comfortable. Please be aware however that in cold weather that room is in need of suplementary heating. The owner Sue and her daughter Many were a realy treat, very warm and welcoming. I went with friend and we enjoyed our stay. We would have ventured further afield had the weather conditions been better. I will recommend this property and may stay in one of the other cottages with my husband at a later date.

I have just spend a long weekend in Rievaulx Lodge with my husband and our dog, it was everything we expected, very cosy and warm with the added bonus of a dishwasher. Everyone we met over the weekend including other guests were very friendly and relaxed. I have to mention this Lodge has the best bed in Yorkshire! it was so comfortable and the bed linen top class. The hot tub was also very welcome on a cloudy cold afternoon. We will certainly go back here - my kind of weekend!

Our family enjoyed a 3 night break in "The Coach House". The cottage was comfortable for my wife and I, 2 kids and a dog. Sue greeted us with a warm welcome and was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The accommodation was fine, a fantastic old building, and with a washing machine and dishwasher it had all we needed for a family break in the countryside in February. The location is great - when in the accommodation you feel tucked away in isolation as it's in the middle of the countryside, but it's only a short drive into Helmsley and not too far to the others towns and villages (Pickering, Thornton-le-Dale etc). Dalby Forest is also a short drive away, and the drive to Scarborough is scenic and less than an hour away. We hit lucky as Sue hosted a hunt on the Saturday, the kids loved the fox hounds and horses, and the hospitality of Sue and her daughter was second to none (my wife and I enjoyed a drink and snacks with everyone!). Our 8 year old loved the horses in the stables and Sue's granddaughter (I think!) was very friendly and invited him into the stables to stroke the horses. Those who have criticised for lack of TV signal/mobile reception/Internet access - what do you expect given it's location! We thought it was a positive. Overall a very comfortable stay in a great location.

WOW what a place. We stayed in the 'Coach House' cottage which had amazing character and comfort, the cottage was home from home and made our stay more than comfortable. The coach house was well equipped and very homely. The area surrounding Laskill Grange was superb and very quiet, the views from the area are second to none. Sue, family and staff were very friendly and we couldn't have felt more at home. We will most definitely be back in the summer season to get more out of the area.

As expected from where Laskill Grange is located there is no phone signal which is a bonus for peace and quiet.

Thank you for a lovely time and sharing your place with us.

* Hot tub is very relaxing :)
