We popped in as a family for an early supper. The menu is refreshingly short and well put together, every dish is tempting. Our starters we're a great way to begin a meal, as was the freshly made tasty bread (which I usually forego, but not this time): all very flavoursome and well presented.
Our main courses were superb - grouse with lentils - wonderfully cooked and presented on a beautiful plate. The deserts were exceptional too - so much attention to detail in the cooking.
The kids' meals were great. It's expensive, but cooking of this quality is worth it compared to how cheated we often feel in restaurants: it looks a lovely place to stay too in a beautiful little North Yorkshire town. We'll be back - and we'll probably stay next time. Nice service - not, thankfully, over-fawning but quietly direct and sincerely polite. Great work all round! Go.
