“Fantastic Dinner!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2013

We stayed one night last week. Greeted with such a warm welcome and supplied with some fine Otter ale.
I had a wonderful Garlic Chicken and my girlfriend had the Abbey lamb, all succulent and cooked to perfection with enough veg and potatoes to feed 6 of us let alone just two.
Dessert menu looked pretty good, but alas we were too full!
Bit of an oldy worldy vibe going on, not too keen on that, but value for money is second to none, if you're hungry, go to the Cockhaven and you will not be disappointed - fact!

Rooms clean, shower warm, everything we needed.

We stayed here overnight after a visit to the Old Walls Vineyard and was made very welcome. From the moment we checked in till we checked out nothing was too much trouble for the excellent staff. Our room was typical of a country hotel, clean and comfortable. Our intention was not to dine in, as I am not a lover of hotel food, but once we had seen the menu we just had to try the restaurant. We were not disappointed. The breakfast next morning was just as good. We have already recommended this hotel to friends and if we are in the area again will certainly stay here.

We are not regular 'hotel' users but found the Cockhaven Manor warm and friendly. Had a three night break, just bed and breakfast. The room was clean, tidy and comfortable with more than adequate tea and coffee supplied. The choices for breakfast were excellent and what we were provided was hot and freshly prepared. Would recommend and will certainly use again.

We had our wedding at the Cockhaven Manor Hotel on Saturday 14th September 2013. We had an excellent day with the support of Roy and his staff. Nothing was too much and all my quirky requests were met! The food was excellent and everyone commented on the relaxed and friendly atmosphere at the venue. We couldn't have asked for more!

We stayed for one night after our wedding night as a stopping place on the way to our honeymoon. As far as we are concerned, we were made so welcome at the Cockhaven Manor with a really friendly welcome and a lovely, well decorated room. The food (breakfast) was very good in terms of portion size and flavour. We have eaten there before at lunch time and would also recommend the Subday lunches. For us, breakfast was made even more enjoyable by seeing the family hotel dog, who stayed in the bar area the whole time, but just added to the overall atmosphere.

Stayed one night in room 7. Dated decor, dreadful bathroom with broken cold tap top on the hand basin, very grubby tiles in the shower and smelly macerater type toilet - no window. Bed uncomfortable with a mattress which had probably seen better days. Curtain open/closing mechanism broken so only one side drew properly. Dirty plug in heater and dirty fan stuck behind the small table and these would have been in the way should we have needed to use the fire exit from the bedroom. Poor customer service at breakfast, had to request juice and cereal which was quite ungraciously delivered. Very poor value for money and an ideal candidate for The Hotel Inspector to visit!!

Room Tip: Ask NOT to be allocated room 7!

Roy, Mandy & their team made our day so perfect. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was exquisite & Roy was so flexible to ensure everything went seamlessly from start to finish.
I cannot recommend the Cockhaven Manor enough. The setting & ambience added to the sense of occasion and all our guests commented & how relaxed everything was.
The owner Roy went out of his way to create a bespoke wedding that ticked all of our boxes. Pete the resident DJ was the icing on the cake and really got the party flowing in the evening.
Thank you so much for such a perfect day. Look forward to seeing you on our anniversary!

Room Tip: Room No 8, Comfortable four poster bed & sea views
