This hotel is owned by St Austell Brewery and they've decorated the rooms to a very high standard. We stayed in a Superior room which was quite expensive @ £120/night but it was the Easter weekend and we did only stay one night as we were walking the South West Coast Path and had to move on the next day. For us it was worth every penny to luxuriate in the large bath after a long day walking, the toiletries were very good quality as were the towels/robes, we felt very spoilt and thoroughly enjoyed the feeling of luxury after battling the elements all day on our walk from Penzance.
Our room had a bay window with two chairs perfectly positioned to enjoy the fabulous view over the harbour. The room itself had everything needed for a comfortable stay, a good selection of tea, coffee, complimentary bottles of water and biscuits. The linens were crisp and fresh and the king size bed heavenly! We went to bed before the bar had shut, it was a bit noisy but we didn't need the ear plugs provided, maybe because we'd been walking all day and were more than ready for bed we slept like logs.
We ate in the restaurant in the evening, the food was well cooked and served with a smile. The breakfast was also very good, I had haddock with poached eggs and the others in the party had scrambled eggs and salmon. There was a good selection of cereals, cakes, pastries etc and the lady in charge of breakfast service, unfortunately I didn't get her name, was so cheerful and helpful that it was a pleasure to be up as early as we were.
I would certainly stay here again, hopefully longer next time!
Worth the splurge for a superior room.
