“Hard working Staff...but overall not a great off-season option”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

I stayed here with a female friend in November 2012. The location of the hotel is fine. It is just a ten minute walk from the ferry, which was very convenient. The staff person who helped us when we checked in was very friendly, but the room she gave us was in a back building next to the pool. Even though I'd asked for twin beds (and had my reservation with this request in writing in my hand), the room we were given had a king bed. When she asked if we preferred two beds and we replied yes, she and a male staff member broke the king sized bed apart and remade them as twins. It was nice that they wanted to give us what we'd asked for, but the whole process took about 10-15 minutes, and was really awkward for us in our jet lagged state. Otherwise, our room was clean and the location off the pool would have been awesome in summer.

Our room was on the second floor with a balcony and street view. It was nicely decorated and especially the bed was so comfortable. All the receptionists and housekeepers were very polite. It only takes 5 minutes to walk centre of the island.
We stayed for three nights including New Year night and were surprised by a bottle of wine and alka-seltzer medicine for the hangover :) This was a well-considered gesture.

incredible nice and charming hotel, good for family with childen. Quiet place with no cars, but a lot of horse-drawn carriages. The children were happy to look at all that scenary and the cats and dogs. Taking the horse-drawn carriage it is a good idea to reservate at the hotel, because a very good and elderly driver, english speaking, will park in front of the door and drive slowly and nice around the island. He takes good care of his horses, too.
The pool was lovely and clean and a good relaxing place for parents.
Breakfast was delicious with everything you want and a beautiful outdoor service.
Staff was very helpfull and kind.
We will recommand this hotel highly.Family from Copenhagen

Room Tip: Rooms with street wiev (front of the hotel)is nice for the children, seeing all the horse drivers an...

We stayed at th Ascot for two nights during a holiday to Istanbul and we had a very nice time. The hotel was well decorated and had a lovely pool, which was great because most hotels back on mainland Istanbul dont seem to! It was a very relaxing break and loved the fact that there were no cars on the island and everyone travels by horse and cart. Of course with this, it can be a bit smelly in the heat but it was better than the heavy traffic and petrol fumes of Istanbul. The staff were helpful and friendly and made us very comfortable but were not overbearing. Our room was quite small but clean and fairly quiet, so no complaints at all. The breakfast was quite good but limited choise compared to the two other hotels that we stayed at In Istanbul, but the food at the restaurant was excellent and we had a lovely meal on the terrace in the evening. The hotel is well located and only a short walk to the port and all of the big seafront restaurants and it also close to the taxi rank, so getting around is easy, but quite expensive compared to a real taxi, but it was certainly a novelty. The Ascot seemed to be one of the better hotels on this small Island, so would recommend to stay here if you are visiting.

Thanks to other reviewers, we have chose to stay in this hotel while we are in Princess Island. The Island itself is just perfect break from hectic Istanbul city, I can see why the wealthy Istanbulas would have their holiday home here. Some houses are amazing.

The hotel is at great location, just away from the busy street but close enough for a short walk back to main street and ferry port. Service is always courteous and helpful, though English understanding can be limited.

Best part for us is the pool, our 3 years old son loves it. Given that to swim in the Island you need to pay 25TL per person to go to a private beach, having a pool in the hotel is just makes it so much easier. Pool is nice and relaxing and kept well too!

Breakfast is good too, and the setting is fabulous.

Room Tip: The room facing the road, observe the horse carriages and schools kids passing by.. just enjoy the a...

Everything was just right - clean, nicely decorated and the staff was helpful and friendly. The town itself is quite charming. I love the fact there are no cars. It was easy to get a horse carriage right outside the hotel.
