This is a really good hotel and a good value spot, with great rooms and a lovely dining room and sunny terrace garden. Our room had a small kitchen area with basics so you can cook at base camp if you wish and a great shower/bathroom. Comfortable beds, windows that really open (increasingly rare!), which is a cause for bonus points with us as is the free wifi. There are also family and other room types available, some with balconies and terraces. Breakfast was included in our rate and served in the pleasant dining room. There is no restaurant and the bar downstairs closes at 10pm, though the town centre is two minutes away with plenty of restaurants and bars. The staff are friendly, direct and very helpful and will organise hire bikes, which will be waiting for you next morning in the small covered bicycle park. Zeeland has outstanding cycling opportunities and a vast coastline which has been subject to the Delta Project, one of the largest water management projects in the world, following devastating floods in 1953. The town of Domburg is extremely popular with German and Dutch tourists mainly for the beaches and cycling! Surrounding towns of Middleburg, Oostkapelle, Vlissingen and Veere are all worth a visit (pleasant and easy routes by bike), and Domburg itself has a great history of artist groups gathering here since late 19th century. Two collections worth seeing are at Galerie het Noordelicht and the town's Museum. On or around the 30th of June the Ringrijden takes place, a traditional display of heavy horsemanship where riders try to pick a tiny hanging ring from its clasp above their heads at some speed. This appears to be part of the summer festival in Domburg, which has been happening here for 400years and goes on until midnight. A Fairground comes to town, there is traditional Jay shooting (now clay pigeon we hope!) in the dunes, and music into the night. We're not old party poopers but the sheer volume is a problem - we're talking stadium amplification levels in a small street until midnight. The hotel does not have any control over the festival and the noise element is clearly an issue for them as they handled our concerns and those of other guests with great efficiency and understanding. The festival organisers could work better with them to greater mutual benefit. That said, this apart hotel is very, very good. We highly recommend it and would stay here again. Excellent.
