“Good hotel, great value”

This is a decent, clean hotel, in a good location. It's the last hotel along the strip so it doesn't feel built up as it's right next to fields, a campsite and smallholdings. The train to Barcelona and Blanes is at the front door; the beach is a few minutes away. If you like running, you can follow the beach to Pineda and back. It's a very civilised hotel, no yobs, stag parties etc, just individuals and tour groups of families, senior citizens. The staff are correct and competent, and very obliging. There is free wifi throughout, which was really brilliant once I got it working (it's sporadic but when it works it's excellent). The food is good, Catalan style, all fresh, not processed, not rich, lots of fruit, veg, yogurts, salads, and the chef and serving staff were so accommodating (I have celiac disease, but they cooked me fresh fish every night, and as there is little reliance on processed food I could eat salads quite safely). The train to Barcelona takes 1h15 and snakes along the coast, it costs 3E20 to get to the airport! I would allow 2 hours to get there. Changing at Sants even with luggage is no trouble. We found this very good value as we booked individual rooms, and even with the single supplement, it was reasonable. We ended up going full board as it was only 2 euros more than half board! It meant that we really didn't spend money when we were there, apart from the odd coffee. We really liked this hotel and the location, and will certainly go back.

dont you dare to stay at this hotel..is the worst ever..everything there is almost dirty and the food smells so bad that you cant stand it..i only ate fried potatos for 6 days!!!!they do not change the towels and they hang them back FROM THE FLOOR!!!this explains everything..this hotel is an embarassment for barcelona!!!!!

“The Perfect Holiday, Santa Susana”

Brilliant hotel, very clean, I had breakfast only, and it was above average. The location is amazing, right in front of the train station. We stayed in Santa Susana but we went to Lloret de Mar, Blanes, and Tossa de Mar, Santa Susana's beach was the best out of all, although. i must admit the night life in Lloret de Mar was better. it's not that far though, you can get from Santa Susana to Lloret de Mar by train+bus for about 4 euros(until 9:30 pm) and a taxi will cost you about 20 euros (£ 14) . I loved. will definitely recommend Mercury Hotel

we travelled from Barcelona by train to Santa Susanna. the train stop is right opposite the hotel, which is handy. only the trainline, a road and the odd hotel separated the hotel from the beach, so views were nice. we went the week before the easter holidays so the resort was very quiet, only half of the hotels open. santa susanna is a resort with just hotels. there were no bars open other than those in the hotels. there is the odd supermarket but that's about it! the hotel itself was nice, quite large, clean, but noisy. there were quite a lot of groups of teenagers on school trips staying there, and because of the open design of the hotel, the noise they made affected rooms on every floor. the hotel staff did nothing to try and control the noise.

the food was excellent and the drink prices reasonable. entertainment was hit and miss. not many english guests and staff knowledge of english was poor. one day a manager decided she needed to come into our room for some reason which we never really understood. she let herself in with a key, jabbered away at us in spanish, marched out onto the balcony then marched out again. it was all very disconcerting!

the pool area was nice, but i think space would be limited when the hotel is full. train journeys up and down the coast are cheap and enjoyable.
